Customer Rating: Summary: Austin Gets Hit with a Blu-ray Comment: Mike Myers' famous character, Austin Powers, is being released in a special 3-movie set on Blu-ray. If you don't like silly bathroom humor and sexual innuendo, then you won't like this trio of comedies. However, if you can let loose a little and remove all inhibitions, these 3 films will have you laughing. The first 2 are the strongest films, with the third being a little bloated (like Fat Bastard) and not much new material; it relies on the same guffaws as its predecessors. The extras on these three discs also area a little disappointing, as they don't seem to be much more than a repeat of the original DVD incarnations, with no new material whatsoever. Still, it will be great to see Austin in High-Def.
The three films in this set include:
"Austin Powers-International Man of Mystery." 1960's Superspy Austin (Myers) is thawed from a 30-year cryogenic freeze to stop the world-dominating scheme of bald baddie Dr. Evil (also Myers). Elizabeth Hurley plays the daughter of his former partner, Mrs. Kensington (Mimi Rogers), and provides the love interest. The main joke through the movie is how politically incorrect Austin is in the present.
Extras for "International Man of Mystery":
* Commentary with Mike Myers and Jay Roach (director)
* Five deleted scenes and two alternate endings
* Celebrity cameos from Christian Slater, Priscilla Presley, and Tom Arnold
Specs: Dolby TrueHD: English 5.1; Dolby Digital; English 5.1
"Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me." Austin Powers hops in a top-secret time machine and zips 30 years back to 1969 to confront Dr. Evil (Myers) and his latest scheme. Evil is eviler - he has a diminutive clone Mini-Me (Verne J. Troyer) and massive Fat Bastard (Myers) as a henchmen. Austin and fab spy chick Felicity Shagwell (Heather Graham) must recover the mojo Evil stole from Austin. This film is a worthy addition to the series, with Mini-Me adding new laughs and Graham performing quite well as the new love interest. The Fat Bastard character is absolutely gross, but will obviously add appeal for the toilet-humor crowd.
Extras for "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me":
* Commentary with star/writer Mike Myers, director Jay Roach and
co-writer Michael McCullers
* 21 Deleted scenes
* Four music videos including Madonna and Lenny Kravitz
* Comedy Central's "The Dr. Evil Story" - a faux biography-like
documentary
* Behind the scenes featurette
* Celebrity cameos include Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, and Rebecca Romijn
Specs: Dolby TrueHD: English 5.1 EX (aka 6.1), Dolby Digital: English 5.1 EX
(aka 6.1), Español 2.0 and Brazilian Português 2.0
"Austin Powers in Goldmember." The mission for Austin is to rescue his suave spy dad (Michael Caine) from the latest scheme of Dr. Evil. The minions: freaky-flakey Goldmember, Fat Bastard, and Mini Me. The new gal: Austin's sassy ex-squeeze Foxxy Cleopatra (Beyoncé Knowles). Plenty of time-jumping between the 70's and the present day. This film is the weakest of the three, with very few new laughs. However, it is still funny and definitely watchable.
Extras for "Goldmember":
* Commentary with star/writer Mike Myers and director Jay Roach
* Fifteen deleted scenes with optional commentary by director Jay
Roach
* Four music videos including Beyoncé and Britney Spears
* Behind the scenes with the actors
* Subtitle track with trivia and fun facts
* Featurettes
* Celebrity cameos include Tom Cruise and The Osbournes
Specs: Dolby TrueHD: English 5.1, Dolby Digital: English 5.1, Español 2.0
Customer Rating: Summary: I'll be "sound as a pound" when they release this baby!!! Groovy!!! Comment: Let's hope that this release does have some extra mojo!!! Not saying that the widescreen DVD's were bad,but with Blu Ray they can be so much more(like the proper widescreen ratio for Austin 1,for example and more extras too,of course they should keep the original DVD's bonus features too!),after all, Blu Rays can hold @$#%load of MOJO!!! let's hope it's groovy baby!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: WHAT? Comment: unless i missed it, how do you know, there are none of those features on a blu ray box set that has not even been released yet.....
why does amazon allow people the ability to review something they have yet to see..
Customer Rating: Summary: What? No "Powers" outtakes. Comment: Unless I missed it, there are NO outtakes,gag reel,bloopers on any of the 3 dvd's. You would think New Line, Jay Roach,or Mike Myers would have thought to add this to this set. What a shame.!! I was really hoping for some outtakes.
