Editorial Reviews:

This small size convex/compass plane is made from a single piece of premium grade macassar ebony, a type of hard wood with delightful grain configuration. This type of plane can often be used by chairmaker, instrument maker and craftsmen working with detailing curved surface. It can act like a small carving gouge or scrub plane to shape a small area.

The 18 mm wide and 2 mm thick cutting iron is made from special tool steel that hardened to Rc 60 ~ 61. The cutting edge has a radius of 9 mm inch and is bedded at 40 degree in the 90 mm long plane body. The cutting depth of the iron can be easily adjusted by means of using a small brass hammer.

Final honing of the iron to suit individual preferences is recommended before first use. To hone this type of plane iron, certain technique may apply depending on your sharpening method. Always start with lightest cut as you can. As you get fimilar with the plane, you can adjust the depth of cut to your comfortable level.
