Summary: Not Magical
Comment: My Boston sparrows were not scared off by the "Magic Halo". It kept them away for only one day. The second day they were at the feeder and using the "Magic Halo" as a place to sit. I did use the monofilament lines also.

I attached the "Halo" to my tube feeder. It was not originally designed to attach to a tube feeder, so it doesn't really "attach". You have to buy wire to make it attach onto the top wire handle of your feeder.

You could fashion something like the "Halo" out of wire hangers and fish line for free. Free is all I would pay for the "Magic Halo". It does not work.

Summary: Magic Halo Sparrow Deterrant
Comment: Sparrows are a nuisance bird that will keep songbirds such as chickadees, goldfinches, etc. from your feeders while they consume all the seed. This device does keep some, but not all, of these pesky birds away from feeders, but the more desirable birds are not affected. Over time, we found that the sparrows got used to the Magic Halo, but not in the numbers compared to without it. The manufacturer includes monofilament and fishing weights to be strung from the Magic Halo as a further measure; we haven't tried this yet to see if it works. The device itself is made of galvanized heavy gauge wire with metal tubes to put it together. It is quite large. It could be improved by providing couplings that are the correct size; it falls apart too easily. I found it difficult to get the thing to stay together without crimping the tubes. This product is worth a try, but as for the manufacturer's claim that it keeps 90% of sparrows away, that seems to be wishful thinking. It will discourage a good number of them, allowing the other birds to get to your feeders.

Summary: Smart Sparrows!
Comment: I was really hoping this product would help get rid of the sparrows on my bird house. Wrong, they went under and around the wires and often perched on them. I will try again in the spring.

Summary: Magic Indeed!
Comment: Works just as advertised. Sparrows hop all around it but don't come in. Chickadees and finches feed as usual, but without the hassle of fighting with obnoxious sparrows. Rabbits soon clipped two of the hanging monofilament lines but fine wire replacements work just as well. Highly recommended.

Summary: Sparrows are Gone!
Comment: A flock of sparrows took over my bird feeder and attacked other birds that came near. I couldn't get rid of them, so I decided to try Magic Halo before taking down my feeder. The product looks complicated to assemble, but the directions are clear and I had it assembled and on the bird feeder within thirty minutes. It's been over a month and I haven't seen one sparrow. The finches, chick-a-dees, titmice and other small birds are back. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that larger birds, cardinals, woodpeckers, etc. have stayed away. However, considering I was ready to take the feeder down altogether, that's a minor point.
