One of Mexico s most revered singers, Eugenia León penetrates the soul with expressive force and versatility. Her repertoire seamlessly pairs contemporary composers with traditional rancheras and boleros, while her live performances integrate elements of theater, cabaret, opera, and jazz.
Her musical career began in Mexico in the 70s. Since her beginning, she has released nearly 20 records worldwide and has won various awards including the OTI Award in Seville, Spain in 1985 and the Agustin Lara Medal in 1998, a distinction from the State of Veracruz.
Eugenia s success in the U.S. is only beginning, with Pasional marking her first official domestic release. However,
she has already sold out The Getty Center in Los Angeles two back-to-back nights in March and will be playing dates in the U.S. throughout 2008. In addition, Eugenia is a featured artist in the PBS Special, Fiesta Mexicana, which celebrates the vast diversity of Mexico s music, dance and people. This special will be airing during PBS June 2008 pledge drive.
