Summary: Excellent package, ScanXL is a good add on
Comment: I frequently do automotive diagnostics and this product is an excellent low cost package. This particular version comes with two software packages, ElmScan and ScanXL.

ElmScan - This is the base OBD-II diagnostic package. Limited in features, a little buggy, but it will get you running right out the box. It has the ability to monitor most vehicle sensor data, and read/reset DTC codes. The DTC code reader will also show definitions of any codes read and will indicate if the code is pending or permanent. If you want to write your own programs, source code and libraries are also included to show how to interface with the Elm hardware. Freeze frame data is not supported.

ScanXL - This tool is an impressive package developed by Palmer Performance Engineering. It gives you the ability to monitor all data points, read codes, log and monitor vehicle data in real time, perform 1/4 mile analysis, dyno runs, create custom dashboards, etc. If this tool does not have a feature you desire, you can programs it yourself with simple JavaScript.

My order arrived quickly, however it DID NOT have the license codes to enable ScanXL. I had to call Scantool.net to get the license codes the next day. After giving ScanToolnet the Amazon order number, they instantly e-mailed the license code to me. The customer service rep indicated the package ships from ScanTool.net with the license, but when it is ordered through Amazon it is does not. Apparently the license keys require additional information that you have no way of providing through the Amazon site. This is a minor inconvenience, but easily remedied by a phone call.
