Comment: The colors are great, especially once calibrated, and it looks great. No noticable ghosting in games, the frame looks great, & the base is stable. For a TN panel, it is a great monitor, I do wish they would include a DVI cable with it though. That seems really cheap and petty on LG's end.

Comment: I bought this 22" to increase my 'real estate' viewing area from a 19" ViewSonic #VG2021M. Note that I LOST more than a 1/4" in height ! However, unless i'd had the ViewSonic prior, i'd never know...... The quality of the image is amazing. And, it's better than the ViewSonic. The 'forteManager' software included is VERY good and worth using...... It'll save plenty of 'set-up time' if you choose. Others report that the glossy screen surface is problematic due to reflections. I don't find it a problem that can't easily be overcome.... just move it, close the drapes or turn off the light ! The bright, colorful, sharp screen in well worth this small compromise. I bought it without seeing it in action and I'm glad I took the risk. Money well spent. Thank you, Amazon.com !

Comment: I did not buy this monitor from Amazon, but I still wanted to give a short review. I bought this after looking over many monitors in person. This one looked the best to me. Then, I went home and researched a bit.
The LG L227WTG uses twisted nematic (TN) panel technology. This is and older and cheaper type of LCD. However, TN panels are by far the most common for 22 inch and smaller displays. The major downside to TN panels is their limited viewing angles. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me, at all. Really, unless you don't sit in front of your monitor for some reason, this shouldn't be a problem with this display.
The major upside to TN type displays, and what I was particularly looking for, is that they have virtually no input lag. I'm not talking response time. Response time is tested with a couple of different methods, but it is basically a measure of how fast an image can refresh on screen. Pretty much all decent monitors have sufficient response time. Input lag, however, is a different story. Input lag, simply put, is a delay that occurs after the video input arrives to your monitor and when it is displayed. I'm no expert, but I believe it is due to some sort of processing the monitor does to the image. Unfortunately, many larger LCDs using newer technologies suffer from this problem. So, if you are a gamer and rely upon a timely display of what your computer sends to your monitor, you might want to go with a TN.
Actual image quality on this monitor is very good, and outstanding for a TN display. When I decided to shop for a monitor, I went to look first before doing any research. I wanted to be as unbiased as possible. This monitor was my favorite 22 inch model, and looked as good to me as most 24 inch models. The colors are vibrant, the blacks are dark, and most images have a very crisp appearance. Textures are displayed with a great deal of fidelity; I swear I want to reach into the screen and grab what's on the monitor sometimes.
I believe much of the good picture quality is due in part to the glossy surface this monitor has. Again, I'm not sure how this technically works, but this panel, along with some of the other glossier ones (like the HP 2207) just looked much better to me. Of course, there is the downside of reflections being seen. If you have a particularly bright room with a window behind you, you might not want this monitor. For me, I have a window at a 90° angle to the monitor across the room (roughly 8 ft away). I usually have the blinds partially closed, but just as a test, I completely rolled up the blinds in the middle of the afternoon. Even with this level of brightness, the monitor was still very usable. But, like I said, if reflections happen to bother you a lot, you might want to look elsewhere. Since I personally am not bothered in the least by this, I won't dock a star because of this.
Brags: Great monitor for gaming (no input lag) - Very nice image quality (vibrant crisp display and realistic textures)

Variance: Only minor thing I did not mention above, the native resolution is 1680x1050. This is standard for 22 inch monitors but sadly not quite enough to display 1080p content. I haven't watched any HD movies (due to lack of a player) so I can't say how they would look. But, I can say that 1680x1050 images are VERY detailed, and I would guess that a downscaled 1080p image would still look great.

Color and contrast are great in an inside office with the lights off. The glossy screen makes this monitor practically unusable with the blinds open or the lights on.
I bought this monitor for a marketing V.P. He tried it for a week, then asked me to get him something else. I then gave it to an engineer. He gave it to an intern at the end of the day. The intern tried it for a day, then turned it off and went back to his 17" monitor.

Pros:

I've used CRT monitors my entire computing life and have been reluctant to make the switch to LCD's mainly based on my fears of screen lag (ghosting), and dead pixels. However, it was time to replace my old 17inch CRT and I had decided I wanted a wide screen display that had at least 1680x1050 resolution.
After heading to a local store to compare models I came across this one which was not even on my list. When looking at the same pictures on various displays lined up next to each other this one kept out performing the others in all categories, especially in color reproduction.
I use my computer to also watch videos either DVD disk or via streaming content online. In all cases the picture is stunning to say the least. Even DVD's played at full screen look great! I'll need to upgrade my video card to handle a full 1680x1050 display but on the few games I've scaled the resolution down for they have looked very good as well.
I am happy to say that at this point I'm very happy with my choice in displays and have begun to recommend this unit to others I know who are looking at upgrading their own computer displays.
