Summary: you get what you pay for ...
Comment: I couldn't tell from the photo, but the base is actually three parts that screw together. Only thing is, they don't screw together tightly, so the lamp leans quite a bit and doesn't stay straight. I would have returned it, but the styrofoam was in pieces and it was impossible to repackage. I'd like to try to super-glue the pieces in the base, but I'm afraid it'll stay in the leaning position.
