Customer Rating: Summary: Not a bad little headset Comment: This is my first new bluetooth headset which I've purchased in a long time. I've used some other recent models too so I'm somewhat aware of what's currently available.
I bought this mainly because of its small form factor and lightweight. I've not had the ear fitting problems which some other reviewers have reported. I suppose as all ears are a little different, the fit would vary from user to user. The headset does come with a standard earpiece and 3 additional accessory earpieces in 3 different sizes. Samsung does provide options to fit as many ear sizes as possible. If all that fails, there is also an option to purchase an accessory ear hook like this one.
Sound quality, this is where it lost 1 star for me. Sound isn't the best, nor is it the worst. It does suffer from some of the clarity problems which other reviewers have described. However, I wouldn't go as far to say that it's impossible to follow a conversation properly. Words are still discernible and fairly clear, and I've used the headset both outdoors and indoors. No listeners have complained about the quality of the conversation thus far and most do not know that I was using a headset.
The positioning of the multi function button (on/off switch) can be a bit of an issue, as mentioned in other reviews. However, do note that to turn it on or off, it requires the user to hold the button for 4 seconds. This should help in preventing accidental activation of the switch. It does require some pressure to press the switch, and I believe this further prevents accidental activation.
This headset really shines when it comes to the ease of pairing. I had it paired to my Blackberry in a matter of seconds. Worked beautifully after that with no issues. I went on to pair it with my Macbook and that too was a cinch. Whereas some bluetooth headsets have issues working with laptops, this Samsung is totally compatible with the Mac. I can play movies, listen to iTunes and talk over Skype with the headset. Its range is great, I often travel and like watching movies in bed while in my hotel room. I leave the Macbook on the desk and I'm about 10 feet away and I'm still getting decent volume through the headset.
I recommend this headset.
Customer Rating: Summary: Horrible design Comment: Pros: Small design
Cons: WONT STAY IN EAR! Horrible location of multi-purpse button!!!
Summary: This is by far the worst bluetooth headset I have purchased. This device will not stay put in your ear for an extended period of time. No matter how you position it, it will slowly slide out. Also, the multi purpose button is in a very bad location. It's located at the very top of the device which is horrible because when you re-position the device, which you will have to do often after it slips out, you WILL touch the button. This often results in accidental hang-ups or redials. I've had this headset for less than a week and I'm already looking for a replacement for it. I wouldn't GIVE this device away. It will be discarded of.
Customer Rating: Summary: Avoid. Comment: This was a maddening experience. I read the negative reviews, but I ignored them and bought it anyway because I was smitten with the tiny size. It's cute. It's packed with technology. It's a conversation starter. It stank.
The small size is great, but the design makes it all but unuseable. For weeks, every time I put it in my ear, I'd inadvertently push the button and place a call. I finally learned to turn my phone off every time I inserted the earpiece.
When it's not being worn, the earpiece is small enough to go in a pocket. The only problem is, when it's in your pocket (or in your backpack. Or in your purse. When it's anyplace but in the charging case, as a matter of fact) the button gets pushed and makes a call. If you turn the earpiece off before putting it in your pocket, the button will soon get pushed, it will turn on, and then it will place a call.
My friends got very tired of having their phones ring by mistake, and I got tired of apologizing.
So if you're the sort of person who doesn't mind disconnecting the charging case and keeping it with you, perhaps the style of this unit will win your heart. Personally, I was secretly pleased when I lost the silly thing.
Customer Rating: Summary: not so great Comment: Couldn't hear very well out of this device. It did not fit properly in my ear, and everyone I talked to complained on the humming noise or not being able to hear me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Exceptional Comment: Have used my headset for a little over a month now and the quality of sound, battery life and in ear fit are all exceptional. I have a smaller ear and have had some troubles with ear bud type systems (mostly not fitting fully into the ear). With this, I have no trouble. And even though it doesn't feel as if it's plunged deep into your ear it is still very affixed. I cna shake my head and turn it quickly while driving and not have any worries that it will fall out or come loose. The price also made this item extremely attractive, as well as it's small package and size. I understand the buttonology issues that some people have, but when you make a device this small there is really very little choice on where to attach the buttoms, so I would just say it's not that annoying to make me quit using it...
