Summary: Very cool
Comment: I have a mutt and now I know what she is. She had 2 level 3 and 4 level 4 matches. Some of the breeds don't look like her at all. She looks almost exactly like one of the breeds shown on her results as level 3. No one really knows what a dog will look like when mixed with several breeds. I certainly am no expert, but it was fun and definitely worth the price! I am very happy with it and received my results in just over 2 weeks.

Summary: Needs more breeds in the database
Comment: We're pretty sure our mutt is a Chihuahua / Mini Dachshund, but Mini Dachshund was not on their list. We assumed she would identify as Dachshund instead, but I guess the miniatures have very different DNA, as she came up as a very very weird mix. I can see the Mini Pinscher maybe, but not Bichon Frise, Basenji, Collie (she's only 9 pounds!) Airedale Terrier, or Schnauzer.
They were very fast with their results though. When the test goes on sale again we're going to try with our Mini Dachshund, since we know for a fact he's almost pure.

We're just going to try again with our mutt (who looks exactly like all Chiweenies) when the DNA tests get more exact.

Summary: Limitations of such tests...
Comment: This was fun to do, but I can't say I have complete "faith." The limitations of such tests are that they may give only part of a story, but not the full picture--which is probably what you had to start with! I thought for certain that the primary DNA would come through. My dog's mother is a lab mix and she is very much a lab in appearance and behavior, but my dog looks nothing like her. However, Labrador did not even emerge in the test. So, of course when you are aware of some history, it makes you doubt the whole test, have the opinion that, "They can say anything." The breeds that emerged for our dog were just really odd (German Shepherd, Yorkshire Terrier, Afghan Hound, Saluki and West Highland Terrier). Seems like Afghans come up a lot and you don't see many of them running lose... I guess we all envision these dogs and how on earth they had opportunities to breed! The breeds in our profile didn't make a whole lot of sense based on where she came from, her appearance or even behavior. But, highly mixed breeds may not look or act like you think they would, and environment is so important. So, not to say that the range of breeds listed weren't detected by the test. It just seems the "known" breeds from the parentage would have come up strongly as noted in other reviews. In the end, a mutt is a mutt, and we love them just the same. I don't think I really know more about the dog after doing the test....

Summary: Totally Inaccurate
Comment: Our American Heinz 51 mutt looks like a cross between a Border Collie and a Retriever. He probably weighs about 100 pounds, has long fur, short floppy ears and is the most attentive, obedient dog I've ever had. What did the test indicate? Shar-pei, Akita and Schnauzer! I don't believe the test is at all accurate and certainly don't advise spending money on it.

Summary: Dog DNA test kit
Comment: Very satisfied with the speed of results. Am certain it is accurate since I had a fairly good idea of what breeds my dog is and this was just a confirmation. Very satisfied with everything.
