Customer Rating: Summary: DVR/VCR COMBO Comment: JVC DRMV100B 1080p Upconverting DVD Recorder VCR Combo with Biult-in Tuner This has turned out to be a great buy. I didn't want to get completely away from having a VCR available for some occasions. However, I now have the tool needed to convert many of our family shots recorder on a vcr media to dvd. A good buy and very easy to set up and use.
Customer Rating: Summary: Just say NO! Comment: They wouldn't let me give it ZERO stars. I made two mistakes: I trusted JVC's reputation for quality products and I waited more than thirty days after receiving this little gem (insert heavy dose of sarcasm here) to actually plug it in and attempt to set it up. It freezes after anywhere from 5 seconds to one minute, so it cannot even get through the setup process, which makes it totally useless. Net loss: $250.-.
Stay away from this piece of garbage!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great value, but not the most user friendly Comment: Upon doing the necessary research, I decided to replace a VCR only machine with one that had VCR/DVD dubbing capabilities and a built in tuner. The performance of the machine (dubbing,(non protected medium) playback, recording) to date has been quite satisfactory. A few reviewers mentioned problems they had with recording TV transmissions via DVD, with programs only being partially recorded despite properly setting timers, channels, etc.... I am one of those who experienced the same issue. (Though experienced none in VCR mode) I called the JVC customer service line and though they were quite patient, they were not able to assist me in solving or diagnosing the problem. Having said this, I found that reinitializing a re-recordable disk prior to every recording session has solved the problem so far. Hopefully this is the definitive answer to the problem. My other complaint is I empahtically agree with a few reviewers that this machine's menu is not intuitive to operate, the instructions don't adequately cover various steps required to navigate operations successfully and will take a very patient individual to invest the time to master this unit...once this is accomplished, you will be happy with it and find it a great value.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great picture until it goes black . . . Comment: I bought this unit to replace my Toshiba dvd recorder/vcr combo that was hit by lightning through my cable connection. I have only owned this vcr/dvd combo for 2 1/2 months. While watching dvds or even just watching video from my camcorder plugged into this JVC combo unit, the picture will go black after a few minutes of watching. The only way to make the picture come back is to turn the JVC combo unit off and then back on (kinda like resetting it). You can't enjoy a movie like this. I'm going back to Toshiba!
Customer Rating: Summary: JVC Has Made Some JUNK zero stars Comment: I have wanted this unit for so long. The VCR WILL NOT TRACK. No matter how much you try to correct it , you are wasting your time. If you take out the tape and put it back in so it can supposedly "fix" the tracking - it goes in fast forward - if you speak chipmunk you might can understand it. The picture is dark and "snows" a lot and always a white line across the bottom. How am I supposed to transfer VHS tapes when it can't even play one . Yes- using brand new VHS tapes. You people that love yours - you got lucky !! Very upset with JVC - I have all JVC equipment and it has all been the best. Don't know what happened with this unit.
