Customer Rating: Summary: Paint prep made easier Comment: I'm repainting our home and this has made prep a lot easier. The unit is very simple to setup, easy to move around, and with the included gun you can soap, wash, and rinse with the press of a button. So far it works well and when the line is primed it starts right up. If you are wondering what 2600 PSI will clean, well it has no problem removing dirt, stains, or paint up close or from several feet away.
Also, the unit comes with a two year warranty and what looks like an earlier model of this unit (XR2600) scored high in Consumer Reports Nov 07 issue.
Customer Rating: Summary: Shipping Comment: The machine its self is great but where ever it ships from is horrible! I got the first one covered in oil all over my porch. Amazon was great about the return but the second one was no better! It came oil everywhere i had to pull apart the entire engine and fix took over 5 hours!! But now it runs great just beware of shipping because didnt' get one that worked after shipping. But amazon was great about working with it!
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice specs, but read the manual VERY carefully Comment: I bought this today on sale at Home Depot (good price, clearance at $259). I also returned it today, without ever using it, based on a warning buried in the manual.
Here's why: After you start the gas engine, you have only 2 minutes to start spraying, or the pump overheats and burns out. Same if you stop spraying in the middle of a job - better spray some more in less than 2 minutes or turn the gas engine off. Even if this were practical, which I kind of doubt, there's no way that I will remember this restriction next year or the one after.
This is a critical problem, as everyone seems to agree that the weak link in these low-end gas washers is the pump.
Lowes has a Troy Bilt for $319, and in the manual for that they note that there is a bypass valve on the pump so that when the water gets too hot it discharges it on the ground so that colder water can flow into the pump. Makes sense.
There are other annoyances on this washer - the wand uses a non-standard 'Gatling' tip. Even the low end Husky at Home Depot (for $299) uses the standard tips that can be found on most pressure washers.
Also, it doesn't include a detergent tank. This is a nit, I agree.
In general, this washer has lots more plastic than the Husky and Troy-Bilt. What's behind that plastic - I don't know - but it doesn't instill confidence.
There are better washers, stay away from this one.
