Customer Rating: Summary: This toy stinks Comment: I bought this toy for my son's birthday. It worked ok for about a week, then it leaked bubble solution from the bottom all into my carpet. I thought I would never get all the bubble stuff to stop oozing out of my carpet. Then it quit working all together. I thought maybe the batteries were dead, but nope, I changed them and the toy still didn't work. I just threw the stupid thing away. As far as I'm concerned, this toy gets a big fat zero. Don't waste your money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Puts the "boo" in peek-a-boo. Comment: Our first one of these worked fine out of the box... for a week. We returned it, got a new one. The new one lasted two weeks. Turns out (at least this is my theory...) that the motor ends up getting saturated with soap at some point, (I know it says no-spill... but there was dribbling going on in both units that we had) and short itself out.
Here's another reason not to get this. You pull the handle, the round whale thing pops up, (shaped a bit like a mushroom) but tries to spring back into position within the unit. There's enough clearance in a hole in the body of the unit around the whale shape to allow the whale to traverse back and forth without issue... unless, say the target audience is a small child who happens to try to grab the whale when it pops up. Now what happens is the whale attempts to pull the tiny hand back into the unit, simultaneously pinching all 4 fingers and thumb. Really poor design for a kid's toy, come on.
That said, it was fun to play with when it worked, and wasn't being a hazard to my baby boy's tender digits.
Customer Rating: Summary: Worked briefly, then stopped Comment: Can I give zero stars?
I got this for my twin babies. After following instructions exactly, the motor ran but it did not blow bubbles. I called Little Kids tech support, and they told me that a batch of the toys got made with underpowered motors, and I needed to hold the handle down 5-10 minutes to prime the pump. I was skeptical, but it worked.
But only for about 2 weeks. Now the motor won't run at all. Put in fresh batteries (and the old ones tested out OK, too) and still nothing. This is going in the trash. I usually look for reviews before I get toys, but I didn't this time -- this will teach me to do impulse purchases.
Customer Rating: Summary: It certainly blows... Comment: I got this for my daughter. It did not work. Followed the directions exactly, didn't overfill, waited 45 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes. No bubbles. Managed to make my daughter (who was standing there saying "fishy, bubbles, fishy, bubbles") happy by adding a little solution to the top and making a few bubbles then distracted her and packed it up. Returned it, got a new one. Guess what? Exactly the same problem. No bubbles!
I'm annoyed. My kid wants bubbles.
Customer Rating: Summary: It doesn't seem to work Comment: I thought the concept of this toy would be really cute for my 14.5-month old son, but when I got it home and followed the set-up instructions, it just doesn't work. The bubbles provided do not work. I have even tried holding down the "bubble bar" for a minute and a half for the first time use, but to no avail. Air pumps out the top, but alas ... no bubbles. If I don't figure something out, I'll have to return it. Perhaps I'll try other bubbles?
