Editorial Reviews:

This acclaimed Kiwi novelty band follow the release of their six-track Grammy Award-winning CD EP "The Distant Future" with their full-length debut. Features fully fleshed-out and professionally recorded versions of the duo's concerts and TV favorites. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement's trademark acoustic guitars lead the blitz, backed by a diverse array of instrumentation and production technique. If amazing, delightful, and hilarious is your idea of funny, then prepare for undisappointment. These fifteen songs pay homage to Pet Shop Boys, censorship, Marvin Gaye, sexism, Shabba Ranks, and backhanded compliments.

Summary: THESE GUYS ARE MUSICAL GENIUSES
Comment: This review is for the MP3 download of Flight of the Conchords' eponymous album.
If you like quality music and a good laugh, try this one out!
In fact, I have gone on YouTube to see some of the video versions of these hilarious but well-crafted tunes.

These guys are actually proficient guitarists, vocalists, songwriters, stand-up comics and what-have-you, who would have been successful performing the "standard", "serious" way. Turns out, they're much, much better as funnymen musicians.

These guys are very smart (geeks if you will); for example, listen to the "binary solo" found in the song "Robots". My favorite songs are Foux du Fafa and Business Time.
Cheers, mate!

Summary: Genius
Comment: Wow, so clever. The lyrics are great, the tunes are funky. Very funny and fun to listen while showing others. Amazing that this parody can match real albums, even top big albums out there. These guys have a gift of picking out the funny aspects of life and putting it to song. Well done!

Summary: Clever catchy songs
Comment: Great songs on this CD. Well produced, good instruments and vocal performances, brilliant lyrics.
sad that "if you're into it" is not on this album, i think it is on the EP.
highlights include: Robots, Business Time, Inner City Pressure, Think About It

Summary: At a glance
Comment: I really enjoy Flight of the Conchords, and their stand up routine. My problem with this album is with the way in which their material was sterilized.

Instead of simply recording the duo rehearsing their repertoire live, in front of an audience, they decided to go for a very over-produced, serious feeling which is not only not funny, it is down right awkward to listen to (and not the good kind of awkward!)

If you simply *must* own something by these performers, I would highly suggest either: Buying one of their stand up performances on DVD, or paying to see them preform live. Songs can be funny and comedians can be serious, but comedians preforming comical songs in a serious fashion is just not pleasant.

Conclusion: This album is a major PASS, however, the *content* of what was on this album is absolutely hilarious and most defiantly worth pursuing.

Summary: Savant genius of sublime stupidly
Comment: I can't stop listening. While the show appeals to those with a sense of humor dryer than double O seven's martini, the music is the piece de resistance. With music like this, the fourth rated parity folk duo out of New Zealand will quickly rocket into third...
