Comment: Check Amazon delivery date up front prior to buying. The delivery date provided by Amazon email after purchase was outside the standard 3- 5 business days. I spent over an hour (3 separate phone calls) trying to speak to a customer service person that could explain why. When I finally got connected to someone in the United States, she explained that you get the 1st customer service person and you can not get transferred. I had a choice of other tv providers and will NOT use Amazon next time.

Comment: Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
I selected the model which is not the most recent because of numerous reviews about the matte non-reflective qualities of the screen compared with the newer A650. I also was impressed with the reviews on this and other sites. I am not at all disappointed. Even with large amounts of light coming through the very-nearby windows, the picture is clearly viewable without reflections. I am very happy with this. In general for my needs (satellite HD signal) this set is terrific. It provides a great picture with HD source, and very good with SD source, as well.
The previously noted limitations of the inputs are not, for me significant, but depending on your set-up, I would consider checking out detailed descriptions or images of the inputs. In this regard, also, there is a somewhat limited ability to change the names of inputs as they appear on the on-screen menu. I cannot comment on the sound, as I run the sound through a BOSE 3-2-1 unit. The set is also extremely attractive in design.
Over all, I have no complaints with this set. On the contrary, I am extremely happy with it. I would absolutely recommend it. I also want to compliment Amazon's delivery service. Considering that their price was among the lowest, it included "white-gove" service, which is to say, carrying the unit up to its installation location, unpacking and setting up, and removing packing materials. And, as the first set arrived with cosmetic damage, Amazon rapidly replaced it with a new one, which arrived equally rapidly, and was installed equally efficiently and pleasantly.

Comment: tv was delivered as scheduled on a saturday. brought it into the my house and unpacked it and checked to make sure it was working. would definitely buy my next tv from amazon.

Comment: The unit was repacked but immaculate. It provides an excellent picture when hooked to an HD source. The picture is a bit disappointing when it is not HD. I would definetly make this purchase again. I also own a sony bravia that is fantastic. I would however, purchase the Samsung instead for the difference in price.

Comment: I have been enjoying this TV for about 3 weeks now, and I am pleased with its clarity and looks. It provides a great picture for DVDs, TV, and (to the extent possible) videotapes. It arrived, through the auspices of Amazon, from Adorama, who phoned me before delivery to set up a meeting time and then actually showed up on time. Great service, great TV, fabulous picture quality, good price.
