Summary: So great for the price!
Comment: This is such a great crib!!! The price is reasonable and it looks like a much more expensive crib. I did plenty of searching before I bought this crib for my daughter and other cribs that were selling for this price looked cheap and unstable. This crib is sturdy, made of real wood and looks so pretty! I am now pregnant with my second child and will buy this crib in a different finish for my second baby.

Summary: My baby loves it!
Comment: We bought this crib because our 2-1/2 month old is quickly outgrowing his bassinet. My husband and I put it together in about an hour. The first night our son slept in it, he slept through the night (7-1/2 hours straight)! The second night, he woke up once to eat and went right back to sleep. This is a breastfed baby that usually sleeps 2 hours at a time and then wants to eat. He is spoiled by napping in our bed which is a cushy pillowtop. But for some reason this crib seems to comfort him, and even when he's awake he likes to lie quietly in the crib and look around. Maybe it's the way our white walls contrast against the dark wooden slats. Whatever the reason, we are thrilled that he doesn't hate his new bed! The crib is very sturdy, and it looks nice in our room. I bought it at Target because the Babies 'R Us around here said they were sold out and that the company (Simplicity) is going out of business. This cherry color was my 2nd choice; I wanted the "Cider" color, but I missed out on buying their last "Cider" crib by about a week. But the cherry color is very beautiful, too, so I'm not completely disappointed. I would definitely recommend this crib!

Summary: Looks good-Watch out for the brackets!
Comment: I have to agree with the other customer's comments about the brackets. I actually did cry though, and my husband actually did cuss. Its not clear from the written or image description of how they should go on. But this is the only difficult step and the rest of the assembly was fine. Now that the crib is up and ready, it looks great. I admit that I haven't used it yet though, because I am still pregnant (hence the crying about a crib).

Summary: Beautiful and Sturdy
Comment: I'm eight months pregnant and I assembled this myself. It's idiot proof -- trust me! They manufactured it so that you can't screw it up. If you assemble something incorrectly, it won't fit together in the end.

It took me most of a whole day, start-to-finish to put it together. (I mentioned that I'm eight months pregnant, right?) That's being extremely careful and meticulous: Getting out all the parts and pieces and laying them out, cleaning the little static-clinged, styrofoam "boogers" off each piece (so they wouldn't scatter on the carpet and dirty up the nursery); checking to make sure all the pieces I needed had been included in the box (they had); reading ahead on the directions to make sure I was mentally prepared; and finding music to listen to on my iPod while I worked. Your mileage may vary -- OBVIOUSLY.

Put together, the piece is way more impressive than the product image. The cherry is rich and deep and looks much more expensive than it cost. It's pretty sturdy too. I bonked pieces into each other by accident (that whole "pregnancy klutz" thing shining through) and nothing marred. I scraped off a teeny-tiny smidge of finish on one of the slats that I probably couldn't find now. And that was after I dropped one whole side on top of another (while I was trying to balance them to screw them together).

You don't need any tools to assemble this -- it comes with everything you need in labeled blister packs. No plastic baggies with bolts rolling around. These people are meticulous about letting you know which pieces are which! They include the only "power tool" you need -- an Allen wrench.

One word of caution: installing the mattress support brackets is a bee-yotch. The wood pieces are a breeze to put together and the actual metal "bars" that run underneath the mattress area are as well. But placing the little brackets on the bar-support system correctly almost made me cry and cuss. It's confusing on the directions which way it goes and how it's supposed to be installed. But thankfully, there is only ONE WAY TO DO IT RIGHT! But when it IS finally installed the right way, it still looks kind of counter-intuitive. The bolts don't fit flush for some reason ON PURPOSE. They are still sturdy and hold the system in place (trust me, I rattled and yanked on it to make sure), they just look funny.

Beautiful crib for the money. I'm impressed. And I'm pretty finicky.

Summary: Some cautions onr this crib
Comment: Buying and receiving this bed was one giant hassle... The first time we ordered it, the shipping date was delayed for a month, then another month, then another two weeks. Then, when it did arrive, it looked like the box had bounced off of the truck! After a while it was almost humorous how wrecked the pieces of this crib were when they arrived--time after time. We would receive a damaged part, reorder it from the company, wait for several weeks (or in one case months), and then receive another part that had a different problem. It became so bad that I contacted the Better Business Bureau. I sent pictures of the damage. Then, the company really started working on our issues. Our baby stayed in the hospital for 4 months after she was born, so we were not desperate, and we did have a bassinet at first.

All of the above being said, it is a beautiful bed, even though we still had to fix a few areas where screw holes were missing, and we now know that we did NOT receive the bed rails to convert it to a toddler bed after all...

A final note of caution for petite mothers and fathers out there. I am 5'2" and I had a hard time reaching in and out of this crib after adjusting it down to the midpoint and bottom point. I would have to "plop" my daughter in for the last few inches I couldn't reach.
