Customer Rating: Summary: i'm in love Comment: this is my first mp3 player purchase -- finally decided to upgrade from discmans and my cd stereos.
pros:
-love the size! nice and tiny, lightweight, perfect for travel
-love the color options (i bought pink) and it makes me smile
-comes with silicone/stretchy protective case & a clip (also bought an armband separately that broke. what a waste of $$ stick with the pieces that come w. the stone plus!)
-great volume on such a tiny speaker!!!
-easy to learn how to use (not complicated) & load with music
cons:
-needs a better way to organized/browse through music (right now, you have to scroll through each folder and/or file -- depending how you have yours set up) and it has to play the first couple of seconds of each track. annoying if you have a specific song in mind...
Customer Rating: Summary: DON'T BUY CREATIVE! Comment: The first mp3 player I bought was by Sony and it has worked pretty well, but since I didn't care for the design or the menu, I thought I'd buy a different brand this time around. The Stone really appealed because of its price, looks, and features. So I spent a lot of time reading reviews and despite the number of people that said theirs randomly stopped working, I still ending up ordering a Stone because of the price.
WHAT A MISTAKE! I started using the Stone right away and everything was going well. I laughed at myself for worrying. THE VERY NEXT DAY, my FULLY CHARGED Stone WOULD NOT TURN ON! I couldn't use the recovery tool that I downloaded from Creative either because when I connected the Stone, it wouldn't show up on the computer. MY STONE WAS DEAD WITHIN TWO DAYS OF USE!
So, there goes fifty bucks. (I bought the 2GB plus with speaker.)
Other reasons not to buy the Stone:
It is ridiculously hard to turn on and off and you have to press for way too long. The middle button isn't big enough or something. Whenever I try to turn it off, I end up turning up the volume super loud instead.
When you reach the end of a list, it doesn't go back up to the first one.
You can't choose individual songs in a folder.
Changing the mode it's playing (in one folder, on repeat, shuffle, etc.) takes way too long. I have to press the middle button, right towards options, down to play mode, and then up and down.
You can't browse music and listen to music at the same time. So let's say I want to go from my Carnival Ride folder to my Some Hearts folder. Well, as soon as I switch over to Some Hearts, Flat On the Floor is cut off because Wasted interrupts it and starts playing.
The clock doesn't work. When you connect the stone to your computer, it asks if you want to sync the time to your computer time and I said yes. Like an hour later, I checked the clock on the Stone and it reset. O_o Before my Stone died, I had synced it twice and both times this happened.
I think I've made my point. THE STONE IS A BAD BUY! So don't buy it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Speakers make this a great MP3 player Comment: This is a GREAT product for the price. The SPEAKER is what makes this the best MP3 player, so you can listen without earphones. The product comes in various colors. Both my son and I have one, and use it for listening to audiobooks checked out electronically from the library. Drawbacks to the product are that the volume is not very loud, fast forward is incredibly slow, and some of the buttons are awkward.
Customer Rating: Summary: as far, very good Comment: A present for my mom. She loves it because its size, that is drag-n-drop and the radio. When i ask her for some of the problems that people wrote in their reviews, she told me that anything like that happen to her MP3 player. The battery last for more than 5 hours, navigate menu wasn't hard at all, it sounds great, and the built-in microphone was pretty good too. Excellent product from Creative.
Customer Rating: Summary: I got a lemon? Comment: Pros: Nice pink color, effective skin and clip.
Cons: Plays erratically. Menu does not function properly. Set at shuffle repeat (or at any other play mode, for that matter) and with 100% charge, it will play one song then stop; subsequently pressing play does not resume music play. Browse function doesn't work at all, never plays what I select. Stops playing when I try to skip to next song. I installed the included startup pack, updated the software and firmware (no change), reset the player (no change), reformatted the player as suggested on the Creative web site (still no change). Can't figure out what's wrong. Maybe this is just a faulty player. My son is mp3 player-savvy, and cannot fix the problems either. Anyone else have the same problems?
