Editorial Reviews:

The Phil & Ted Traveller is the lastest and greatest travel crib from the guys at Phil & Ted's. It's lighweight, easy to set up and it's comfortable and safe for your baby. This is the replacement to Phil & Ted's Travel Cot.

Summary: One of my favorite new toys
Comment: Okay, so I'm a gadget guy - a lifetime of too many James Bond movies. The Phil and Teds Traveller bed is a very cool gadget - when you put it together it looks like a very small tent. Very clean look, extremely sturdy, very light, and packs up surprisingly easily into the included carrying bag (I've heard complain about that, but it is much easier than getting a real tent or air mattress back into a carrying case).

I only have three complaints, two are fairly minor. The major one is that it did take a while to figure out how to put it together - read the instructions, which aren't incredibly clear (here's the tip - put together the 4 pieces of the top of the frame, and _then_ attach to the legs). The minor ones are that the zipper is fairly loud (so you might wake up your baby when you put him into it) and because the mattress slides into a sleeve at the bottom of the travel bed, it's difficult to attach a sheet to anything.

But all three of those are fairly minor. Even the one about the instructions. After two or three times of putting the travel bed together, I can do it in minutes.

If you travel a lot, if you go camping, I would definitely recommend this travel bed.

Summary: Best thing since the Baby Back Packs...
Comment: There is so much travel rubbish out there for kids, and all basically the same. But this little beauty is very different, it has changed our lives, it is so light and small. We have three babies and each of our boys has one, they are terriffic.

Summary: The feet are extremely FRAGILE
Comment: The instructions are a joke. They are poor print quality faded b&w photos - no words. If the photos had at least been in color it wouldn't have been so bad. It's a good thing I worked in a camping store for a long time selling & demonstrating tents or I wold have had a much harder time putting this together. Once you know how, though it is easy, but you have to be VERY CAREFUL with the feet. It doesn't take any muscle to put this together so that should be easy, right? Guess again.

The feet break off at the drop of a hat. One came off while I was putting it together the first time. Crib worked fine for the rest of that trip. However, two months later when I had to use the crib while waiting for my furniture to arrive in the moving van, the missing foot allowed my 9 month old to be able to push the crib over onto its side when she woke up, which broke off the second foot. I was packing up the crib to return when I noticed a third foot dangling - must have happened when she knocked it over or when it was put back upright.

this crib is a great idea; its execution and construction leave much to be desired. I'll update my review after dealing with the company's warranty people. it's ridiculous that after maybe 10-12 nights of use it would break like that.

Summary: Poor quality construction for the price
Comment: I borrowed a Traveller from a friend for an overseas trip with my 10-month old and liked it so much that I bought my own. It's lightweight, easy to set up, packs small enough to fit into a suitcase, and definitely fills the need for a playpen/crib in a hotel room. However, we just returned from a week-long trip, and my almost-brand new Traveller exhibited some serious quality issues. The zipper broke on the stuff sack, the zipper came unstitched on the top panel, and one of the tightening pulls on a leg came off. My friend's Traveller has shown none of these problems, so maybe I just got a bum one. The Phil & Ted's warranty, though, seems much more restrictive than similar high-end producers so we'll see what they say.

Summary: Great Product!
Comment: I had been researching travel cots for some time, hesitant to purchase one and acquire even more "baby stuff", especially since we already own a Pack & Play (which is great, but too bulky to travel with). A recent camping trip in rather close corners finally necessitated purchasing a travel cot, and the newly-redesigned Traveller seemed like a good bet. My daughter slept quite soundly in the bed from the first night we placed her in it, and we're so pleased with the product that we've recently taken it on a weekend trip and used it in place of a hotel crib. The greatest challenge is fitting all the pieces into the included duffle bag, but once that is accomplished, the cot easily fits into a standard suitcase. It's also very lightweight for the space that it offers our 17-month old. And although my daughter is very tall, it seems unlikely that she would be able to climb out of the Traveller Cot in the near future, due to the the curved frame. This product is great when you have the need to place your child to sleep in a smaller space, such as a hotel room or tent, yet the length of the Traveller means that we should be able to use it until my daughter is ready for a real bed. And she seems to very much enjoy waking up and peering out the mesh "windows". All in all a very good product so far. Just be sure to bring a small quilt or extra blanket to line the bottom of the cot, as there is no way to attach a sheet to the mattress.
