The new All-Clad Deluxe Electric Skillet is the perfect vessel for cooking a big breakfast or preparing a holiday dinner thanks to its large 6-qt. capacity. It has been specially designed to ensure the highest cooking performance and ease of use. The bonded construction with an aluminum center core prevents hot spots in spreading heat evenly across the cooking surface. The wide temperature range (from 250o to 480o) allows you to sear or fry, but also to keep your food warm on a buffet, while temperatures are clearly marked on the control panel. Extremely convenient with its cast stainless steel handles for easy maneuvering, it is dishwasher-safe thanks to the removable power cord and removable control panel. All-Clad Electrics are designed to complement any All-Clad cookware collection with clean, simple styling, matching cast solid stainless steel handles and high-yield strength stainless steel rivets.Features:Generous 6 Qt capacity3-ply bonded construction Stainless steel lid Cast stainless steel handles and rivets Wide temperature range 180 - 480F Precise temperature settingsDishwasher-safe (removable power cord and control panel)

Customer Rating: Summary: Not useable for its intended purpose Comment: I bought this skillet from a Williams Sonoma retail store on 10/10/08 and returned it on 10/11. They are a very nice store to deal with on products and accepted the return without problem. I subsequently found that there are other write-ups on this skillet on their site where it is not rated highly. I found the criticisms are just. There is a hot spot in the middle. The cooking is not even. A real test for a stainless steel skillet is cooking eggs and pancakes because the temperature must be kept at about 350 so the food sears quickly. The food basically tells you when it is ready to be turned when it releases easily with a spatula. However, even with a lot of grease (from the bacon), food sticks in this skillet. The corners are the coolest and the liquid runs to the corners leaving the middle exposed. Why did the food stick? Because of quality control issues, the temperature control allowed much too wide temperature swings. For example, when the controller was set to 350, the bacon would cook and sizzle. When the unit shut off, the bacon would no longer sizzle and would just sit there in the pan. Cooking stopped. To get the controller to turn the element back on, I had to turn the dial to the "sear" setting which is about all the way up. This was a temperature swing of several hundred degrees. I paid $239 plus tax. This made this an expensive electric skillet which had too many shortcomings to have been acceptable at any price.
Customer Rating: Summary: WOW, WHAT A PAN! Comment: I have had many electric skillets over the years that needed replacement every 3 - 4 years. We use an electric skillet for everything from pancakes to pot roast to stuffed peppers. When I saw this pan, I thought "Why not? I have already spent hundreds of dollars on the cheaper ones." Well, this is the sturdiest, best built, biggest skillet ever. No sticking, burning, easy to clean. The only problem is the handle on the lid gets hot so use a hot pad to remove it.
