Summary: Excellent Buy
Comment: Compared to other enclosures this is an excellent item. I chose to give it four stars because like all the others the case is not ventilated, no fan option, no auto shut-off. Someday there may appear an enclosure that deals with the heat build up. The problem seems to be that when you shut off your computer the drive in the enclosure continues to run and gets very hot; which concerns me about the effect upon the hard drive. There is a shut off switch on the item if you remember to use it. Otherwise this is as good as it gets for any enclosure that I have found. Presently I used three different makes and models of enclosures and this is definitely the best looking and doesn't lack in performance. I am well pleased with this purchase.

Summary: Beware of poor quality control
Comment: Ugh. I got a lemon. The screw hole to attach the case was machined improperly and it cut clear through the side of the mount. So, I can only secure this with one screw. The label on the back peeled off and the AC adapter cord is too short to be of much use.
It's not even worth my time to send this back because I need to use it for a project right away.

Summary: Slim, Attractive and Super Fast Shipping
Comment: I was using a Western Digital My Book 500gb External HD for almost a year and occasionally when I would reboot my machine the drive wouldn't be recognized until I unplugged and restarted it a few times. Eventually it stopped being recognized altogether so I decided to purchase a new enclosure, hoping that the HD itself was still functional. Well, I ordered this through regular standard shipping on a Monday and it was at my place on Wednesday. That was an amazingly fast turnaround.
Anyway, I have only been using this enclosure with my WD 500gb HD for about a week now but everything has been perfect so far. The enclosure looks nice and is way slimmer than the original Western Digital one that the drive came with. And the setup takes about 30 seconds. Although I have no clue how well this will last, I am extremely happy so far. With the speed of shipping, the good value, the nice design, and the ease of setting it up, I would definitely recommend this highly.

Summary: Make good use of an old hard drive
Comment: I replaced an 80GB hard drive with an 1T drive, but didn't want to give away or put the old drive on the shelf. This enclosure solved the problem, and gave me a new external USB drive for a very small investment. It was a piece of cake to install the drive in the enclosure, and it worked great right from the start. I searched all the possible enclosures, and selected this one because of price, durability and style. I wasn't disappointed in any way.

Comment: I bought a Western Digital mybook. It was a good device. Then it broke. And that sad. True story. so, I got upseta nd tore it to pieces. And, it was built very durable. Was.
So, I bought this cheap little gizmo, and were up and running again. I can't say anything more than that. It works, it's quick. and I can not be happier. Made of sleak metal, keeps it cool. I tipped it over once, it still worked without error. And. it's very cheap.
Buy this and an external hard drive and you'd be all set. And you'd save money.
