Don't waste time waiting for your documents. The HP LaserJet M2727nf MFP features professional print and copy speeds of up to 27 ppm (pages per minute). Other MFPs need time to warm up before printing the first page, but with no-wait Instant-on Technology your first page will print two times faster than devices without it. And with a stable light source, copy or scan jobs begin in a matter of seconds - even first thing in the morning. Your documents always look great with reliable, high-quality printing at true 1200 dpi.multilingual

Customer Rating: Summary: Great for home based office Comment: I purchased this to replace a Brother 7220 MFP. Although the Brother is a good machine for home use, I am now operating a home business that entails a large copy, scan and fax volume. The Brother wasn't designed for and can't handle the volume I need. So after some research, I chose the HP M2727nf since it has all the features I need.
Out of the box, the roller on the ADF was not situated properly (possibly jostled in shipping)and every paper fed through jammed. Once I figured out how to remove the roller and reinsert it in the proper position, no more jamming.
I installed the software and drivers on an XP and a Vista machine. In both instances, I downloaded the software and drivers directly from HP to insure that I had the most current drivers. I had to run the Vista install a couple of times to get it to install because it came up a couple times with a fatal error. I just rebooted and tried again, and it worked after about the third time. I noticed that Vista tries to install the drivers when the MFC is plugged into the Vista USB port. I had to to let it install them before the HP installation would complete. The XP didn't try to install the drivers on it's own, it allowed the HP software to do the complete install.
All of the features work on both wireless networked computers. I ran the firmware upgrade with no issues.
The copy qualities are excellent, as is the copy speed. The scanning is a bit slower, but once I changed the scan settings to 150dpi and Greyscale, it sped up the scanning process enough to make me a happy camper.
I find the software user friendly and responsive on both XP and Vista
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Printer Comment: I have had the printer almost a year. It works great as a printer, scanner, and fax. I have had a few jams at the document feed, but it cleared easily. The software is a nice feature allowing you to scan and attach PDF, JPEG, or other formats to e-mails.
Customer Rating: Summary: easy, fast, and great print quality Comment: I bought this printer to be used in a work group of six people and we wanted a multi-function unit that included a fax. This printer was easy to install if you have a little knowledge of printer installation using the disk provided. I was able to toggle through the menus to achieve basic set up without reading any of the other documentation and it has worked very well for three months now. The fax function is preset to store your document(s) before transmitting and that can be a little annoying if you are expecting to have your document scanned and sent immediately, but there is a fax confirmation page available through the menu that is actually a small copy of your document front page which is real nice and addresses any questions about if the document was sent or not. There is also a summary transmittal page the can be printed daily as well. We like this machine quite a bit although it is hard on toner, the print quality is very good for our needs as a basic office printer/fax/copier. At the time we purchased this unit HP was offering a special rebate at 50% off so we were able to get quite a deal. We would buy it again, even at full price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Does Not Properly Receive Faxes with Answering Machine Comment: This machine has very good print quality - much better than the Brother MFC machine that I replaced it with.
The problem is the fax receiving system. If you have just a single phone line, intended for taking both phone calls and the occasional fax, then this machine simply doesn't work in a professional manner.
If you have an answering machine set up on the line, then the fax waits for your answering machine message to start playing before it attempts to receive the fax. In other words, the person sending the fax hears your answering machine message through his fax machine before the fax picks up. This is highly unprofessional, because your fax sender will often assume that there has been a technology problem, and cancel the fax before the HP 2727nf machine actually picks up.
I have experimented with all of the receiving options provided by the machine. This is the only way it will receive a fax with an answering machine attached. All other options terminate a voice call after a certain number of rings, and do not allow the answering machine to actually take a message.
Don't buy this machine if you intend to use it on the same line as an answering machine.
Customer Rating: Summary: excellent for mac os x 10.5 Comment: This is one of the best printers I have owned. The set up was easy and works quickly and prints, scans, faxes and copies well.
Booklet and double side printing make this really useful.
Downside - I cannot scan from Preview and it is noisy.
It works well with iMac and 10.5, some features for Windows are not available but these are minor. Well worth buying. Good for home or small office.
