Summary: Hard to use!
Comment: I agree with everything posted here previously! The only thin gyou can basicallly find is the moon, and even that is hard to find sometimes. Forget about finding stars there is no way you can focus in on a particular star its way too hard I spent 20 minutes the first night just gettint he moon in focus for my sonand he was already uninterested when i called him. My husband doesnt even want to bother with it, I have tried several times to find stars but no luck. Liek I said the moon is the only thing this is good for. You can see the craters and everything but don't touch it because it will move at the slightest tilt and you have to refocus all over again!

Comment: one big piece of junk, my 5 year olds made a telescope out of a left over
paper towel holder that works better, don't waste your money

Summary: Don't be fooled. It only looks like a telescope.
Comment: There is nothing that damages a young person's desire to pursue a science hobby more than a bad experience. My biggest concern is that this telescope will ruin any 1st time amateur astronomer's desire to pursue this hobby. I am an experienced telescope builder and user and I was totally frustrated within 10 minutes trying to use this one. Imagine a child with little experience and absolutely no instructions!(given to my 11 yr-old nephew by another family member)
1) tripod is so wobbly that the possibility of a focused, steady view of any astronomical object is virtually impossible. (FYI: sky objects move continually). No explanation for how to control the tripod is present in any of the documentation (1 short page).
2) the interior of the main "aluminum" telescope tube is shiny, i.e., has absolutely no anti-reflective interior coating (black flocking or baffling) to minimize internal light reflections which are known to interfere with seeing clear astronomical images.
3) it was difficult to see anything through the "alleged" 3X finder (the only hope by which to find something in the sky). Equally important, there is no way to adjust this finder so that when you find a sky object with it (where it is aimed) you can then go to the telescope eyepiece (can you even call it that?) that you will be viewing what it is that you found in this small, difficult to use, completely ineffective "finder."
4) All of the advertised features are so over-rated that the claims for this product border on false advertising, like "great for star tracking and astronomical viewing." "Durable aluminum construction," when almost all of it is made from plastic. I am willing to challenge anyone to actually show me, using this telescope, anything close to any of the pictures of galaxies and star clusters that are on the cover box.
5) They paid $10 at a drugstore chain. Do I really need to say more??
