Summary: Disappointing
Comment: I made the mistake of paying $150 for the extensive kit at Home Depot. I usually go for the high end tools but don't recommend it in this case.

Right off the bat, the kit was missing accessories. While the customer service people were great and responsive about sending out the parts, it was very annoying to pay this much and not be able to get the job done. I was also disappointed that the kit didn't include the wood cutting blade but I went back (Lowe's this time) and bought one. This blade is an extremely expensive grit-wheel gizmo. Totally worthless. I needed to trim some softwood door casing for a tile installation. After filling the room with smoke and not cutting much of anything, I pulled out my old $10 Irwin flush cut saw and was done in a few minutes. I can't remember what I paid for that wood blade but it was over $20. So now I have $170 into this tool - yikes! They should be ashamed of themselves for even selling this blade.

The tool with normal spiral bit works well for cutting drywall. I use it with the circle cutter to put can lights in ceilings and once you get the radius set right it's very fast. Don't trust the settings on the circle cutter and always make a test cut in a scrap of drywall first. I tried to cut a round hole in a piece of exterior T-1-11, and it was clear that the Rotozip is just not the right tool for cutting wood.

The tool in my kit has a keyless check but unfortunately it doesn't grip the bits tightly and they tend to come loose. This could be dangerous but in any case it's very annoying. Interestingly, there are other adjustments that you need to use often (most notably, the depth adjustment) that require a screwdriver - dumb.

Your existing Dremel or one of the cheapo clones (that I've seen for as cheap as $15) will do the same job on drywall. Definitely don't make the mistake I did by buying an expensive kit... this is a decent (not exceptional) power drywall saw but that's really all it's good for. You can spend much less and get exactly the same job done.

Summary: Disappointed - Not the Killer Tool I thought it would be
Comment: The Rotozip did not live up to my expectations. I bought it on the basis of the many great reviews here. The DVD shows it cutting through wood like a hot knife through butter. My experience, however was not nearly the same. For example, cutting a 1/4" piece of plywood along a 24" line was a slow, extremely loud (sreeching), wood burning experience. I played with lowering and increasing the speed, using a light touch, as well as a firm push, but no matter what, it performed poorly (yes I used the correct bit). After a quarter of way through my last cut, I broke down and swtiched to my old jig saw and made a quick, cleaner, and "quiter" job of it. Using the Rotozip without a guide to cut straight lines was difficult. Perhaps I have not developed the knack for it yet... I am hoping that I will find it handy at some point. I am sure I will, but at this point, I am really disappointed to not have it be the killer tool that I thought it would be.

Summary: Good Overall Quality
Comment: But if I had to complain about anything, the motor's definitely a bit anemic. I find it bogs down more, and more often, than I'd like - especially using a cutting wheel.

I'm probably just a little too impatient, or push a little harder than the tool's intended to be pushed, but no matter what I use it for, I find myself wishing it had more power.

On the other hand, it's well built, and it's like a dremel tool - there's no one reason you really need one, but there's a million times you're glad you have one.

If you're just starting out building your tool aresnal, I'd say hold off on this one for a while. It's not the magic "do it all" tool they advertise it as.

If however you've already got all the basics and you're looking to blow some money on "gadgets" you could do worse than buying one of these.

Summary: Great Spiral saw, a Dremel on steroids
Comment: This tool is much better than a Dremel . It has more power and more versatility and if you buy the RotoZip FS2 Flex Shaft Attachment you get pen like precision. This tool becomes a Dremel on steroids.

The jig saw handle provides you with a jigsaw that glides over your work cutting angles with depth precision that are only possible with a spiral saw and providing you with the firm platform of a jigsaw. The Sanding and cutting disk head attachment are equally useful and well made.

Great product and worthy of 5 stars.

Summary: Great, $$$
Comment: Works well, well built, sturdy. If only it weren't so darned expensive.

Also, the RotoZip RZVAC1 Dust Extraction Adapter Kit works very well.
