Hands down one of the best performing portable radios you will find today.
With its whoppingly large 200mm ferrite antenna, its dual 2.5" speakers, and the RDS text function you would be hard pressed to find another portable radio that offers so much for so little.
This lite and powerful radio is capable of being powered by the included AC adapter, 6 x 'C' batteries, and optional DC power you have the flexibility a portable should have. Summary: Very good if you're not seeking high quality sound
Comment: This radio does it all. I have been very pleased with it and I predict you will as well, as long as you understand this is not a high fidelity piece of equipment. The speakers are fairly small. It is a relatively compact radio so don't expect to be blown away by it's sound. Other than that, if you're looking for something portable that has good reception and digital display it will do great. It will also accommodate peripherals like Ipod's and CD players.

Summary: Sangean PR-D5P am/fm radio
Comment: I got my D5P radio yesterday and I love it. I would make the rating 4.9 but 5.0 is close enough. I had been using a CC Crane radio for years I paid twice as much for and I never could get AM stations clearly or my favorite FM King classical radio out of Seattle WA. Now I can get lots of stations I could not get well at all.
The only complaint I have is that the time keeps messing up (no big thing to me) and I like a rotary dial that can be really percise but not jump to another station but maybe this actually is better. I also never did figure out what RDS is.
As for a handle to hold, it is light so very easy to carry but there are deep holes on the back top side for screws and I drilled a hole from the top to the deep opening and have made a handle. I used a mini bungee cord and tied 5 knots in it and then put the end hooks into the holes and pinched them tight. Works great. Just a thought, you might come up with something better to use than a bungee cord.

Comment: I was expecting exceptional reception for AM radio based on the all the hype and reviews but it was no better than the clock/radio I have for the last 15 years.
I returned this radio for credit, and am waiting for the credit confirmatiom.

Comment: I wanted a radio for better AM reception and this one works much better than any of my old standard radios. It's a simple radio, only has 5 presets for AM and 5 for FM, no TV or weatherband but does come with a jack for MP3 player. Has good sound quality, looks nice and seemed like a better value compared with other radios advertised.
