Summary: Great for the price
Comment: These klipsch speakers are pretty great. They do exactly what you would expect speakers to do, reproduce sound, and a do a pretty fair job of it. If I have a complaint, and I always do, it's that the speaker design is a little awkward. Let me explain.

The right speaker plugs into the subwoofer, which also accepts one source input. But the left speaker plugs into the right speaker, which just seems bizarre to me. Wiring becomes something of a tangled mess once you have it set up to your device of choice. I'm actually using these as a 2.1 system for tv/movie viewing hooked up to a 40'' sony bravia in a small room. They work great for movies, tv, games, and even pc to tv output. In regards to sound the set is pretty impressive, but if you really try to crank the volume things start to get distorted pretty quickly. Honestly though you'll never need to get the volume even up to the halfway mark, anything past a quarter turn on my set seems incredibly loud ... too loud, so the volume adjustment is incredibly sensitive allowing you to find that perfect spot for you.

The inclusion of an extra mini jack port on the right speaker is a cool idea, but I rarely plug in mp3 players or anything so it's a fairly useless addition ... again for me.

Overall good set of speakers, very durable. I've had them for more than a year and I use them for daily tv/movie viewing. Still no distortion or blown out speakers.

Oh one last thing, the sub tends to get really warm. So that's something to consider when placing this in your home theater or pc setup. You'll want some good air circulation around this guy.

Summary: Great but not awesome, comes up short on bass
Comment: Let me begin by saying regardless of brand, I would look for speakers with THX certification - pass on everything else. You'll eliminate a large majority of the market and make the decision process easier - less overwhelming and eliminates the mediocre performers you wouldn't be happy with, anyway. All speakers I reference below are THX certified.

I purchased the Klipsch a year ago and have compared it to two Logitech systems.

Last year I bought a Klipsch system for a friend who had no music and no working speakers. I was introducing her to my music library and wanted to pair it with quality sounding speakers. Much of my collection (R&B, Contemporary Jazz and Down Tempo) has deep bass so I look for speakers to handle the lows equally as well as they can handle the highs. She loves the 200 watt Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 and friends who haven't heard anything else think the Klipsch is great, but I am more critical. After a lot of fine tuning of both computer and speaker adjustments, I am not satisfied with its short coming on the bass end. My complaint about the Klipsch is the distortion in bass at volumes that I feel a subwoofer should handle.

I purchased my 1st THX certified speakers 7 years ago, a 400 watt Logitech Z-560 connected to a computer running a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 sound card. It continues to be my primary system today - you can read my review of them. I purchased a 2nd Logitech as a gift for my sister 3 years ago and she still thanks me for them today. My most recent purchase was a 200 watt Logitech for the laptop in my bedroom and it will get a 5 star rating.

Klipsch is a good product and was my 1st choice back in the day before the THX certified Logitech's came out, but dollar for dollar they don't compete.

Summary: Perfect 2.1 system
Comment: The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system is simply amazing. I've coupled these with an Auzentech X-Fi Sound Card in my home computer, and I am now enjoying the best sound quality I've ever had from a computer. I use these in a relatively small office in my house, and at full volume, it is overwhelming.

These speakers produce some of the clearest, sharpest sound that I've heard from any speaker system, including expensive home theater stereos. They produce accurate, clear, rich highs and mid range sound along with strong bass if you want it.

There are two controls on the left speaker which serves as the control for the rest of the system. One controls volume and the other the bass level. I find this to be very useful to quickly switch bass levels from one song to the next.

Pros:

Powered Amp--this is a big deal if you want quality bass

Powerful 200 Watts of power

Highest quality sound from any 2.1 system I have ever heard including Bose and Harmon Kardon products.

Solid, food framed speakers and subwoofer. These speakers will out last any of the plastic stuff made by Logitech or others.

Headphone jack on control speaker

Great warranty

Cons:

More expensive than other 2.1 systems, but you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to speakers.

In sum, these speakers are awesome. I highly recommend them to anyone that wants high quality sound from a small package. My friends are always commenting on how great these speakers are, to the point that two of them have gone and purchased their own set!
