Two computers. One monitor. No Problem. Business professionals who bring home their laptops spend countless evenings in front of a small display and cramped keyboard. Thanks to Switch2 for PC, you can now use your big DVI-D monitor and full-sized keyboard for both your laptop and home computer. It's simple. Just press the remote to switch your monitor from one computer to the next. Switch2 for PC is also great for connecting your old and new desktop computers, so you can access files and programs effortlessly using the same monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Customer Rating: Summary: Linux Fedora 9 and Vista on Dell Dimension 9200 Comment: At first attempted to use the Flip USB, non-DVI version and had problems with the keyboard/mouse not being re-powered during a flip, mostly Linux. Returned and bought the DVI version since it was powered by an AC Adapter (USB/VGA version not powered by AC Adapter, uses power from USB.)
Problem still occured but soley with Linux, not Vista. Seemed that USB port would fall asleep and when I would flip to Linux, no mouse or keyboard. I had a Adaptec PCI card laying around with 5 USB ports and installed on a whim to see if there might be a problem with internal, builtin ports - problem solved. Been working for several days without a problem at all, it works! Problem does not appear to be with the Flip, but with USB ports Linux interface. High resolution is not a problem for me as noted by others. However, when powering-up Linux while using Vista and later flipping over, the screen has some resolution problems and a live-reboot is required of Linux (Fedora 9.)
Belkin has software downloadable from their website for Mac/Windows which allows a flip of Video/Mouse and choice of not flipping audio, but it is not available for Linux (Hey Belkin, you got my $$ for this expensive consumer KVM, make a Linux version!)
Customer Rating: Summary: Good product Comment: I needed a KVM switch for my windows PC and my Macbook w/DVI. At first somehow I couldn't get it working. The LED light on the switcher wouldn't turn on. Maybe it was because it wasn't fully plugged in. After a while, I got it to work and was glad to find that the switch from mac to pc was pretty quick. I switch between a Vista machine and Leopard on the mac w/Logitech keyboard/mouse. Sometimes the switching back to windows it takes a more than usual. But most of the time I am pleased with it. For those looking for a KVM solution, I would definitely recommend this. Good product
Customer Rating: Summary: More than it appears Comment: We ended up returning the Flip because we didn't need it. Be aware that the cable runs on this device are long and thick. This is fine of you have two computers located some distance from each other. If your two computers are right next to each other, you'll have a pile of extra cable to tie up or hide.
Customer Rating: Summary: YMMV Comment: I purchased this KVM for my home office, where I have a Windows PC and a MacBook Pro. I haven't nailed down the exact steps to reproduce the problem, and this may be specific to my setup, but a couple times a week the KVM is unable to switch the keyboard and mouse over to the PC. I have to unplug the keyboard from the KVM and plug it directly into the PC, and I usually have to power-cycle the KVM.
When it works, it works well. The video is indistinguishable from direct connection. I really like the concept and the form factor. I just wish it was a little more consistent.
Customer Rating: Summary: Would buy another Comment: I needed to share a large 1920x1200 monitor, keyboard and mouse between a Mac and PC laptop. After using the flip for a few weeks I like the following:
* Comes with the additional cabling required.
* Easy to hide the box that interconnects the cables - all that is seen is the little round switch.
* Easy to tell which cables go with which switch position since they are color coded.
* No software required on either Mac or PC to make it work if you don't want to use keyboard switching.
* Monitor display quality is unaffected as far as I can tell.
* It has not caused any crashes or hangs on either computer.
Issues - none that were not self inflicted. Being a Mac user I did not bother reading the instructions at first and there is an important power on sequence for the PC to get it to recognize and use the monitor. Once I followed the instructions all was well and the switch has worked well since. There is a short delay after switching before the mouse and keyboard work on the PC but I don't think this is an issue with the Flip.
