The 245T monitor has a 24-inch, 16:10 wide-screen format, with a 178/178-degree viewing angle. The viewing angle is achieved via Samsung's proprietary Super Patterned Vertical Alignment (S-PVA), the latest technology advancement in liquid crystal cell structure, for an improved user viewing experience. The 245T monitor's ultra-wide viewing area can support a range of multi-window applications, thereby helping to improve work efficiency and reducing the need for two monitors.Furthermore, the 245T model features a high 1920 x 1200 resolution, allowing the monitor to deliver clearer and more precise images. The 245T monitor's image quality is also enhanced by Samsung's MagicContrast which offers a super high contrast ratio and an extra-wide viewing angle that's ideal for providing detailed onscreen images. With the 3000:1 super-high dynamic contrast ratio, it's easy to read or view content on the monitor's screen. The 245T model also comes equipped with MagicSpeed, which gives users an ultra-fast 6ms response time (gray to gray), making the monitor ideal for computer gaming and multimedia-driven applications such as motion or streaming video. A faster response time provides better performance of motion video, and produces smoother edges, clearer images and a more natural image response. These features make the 245T monitor an ideal choice for a range of high-end commercial applications that require clear and precise images, such as CAD/CAM fine-detailed drawings, web and graphic design and desktop publishing.

Spotlight customer reviews:

Customer Rating: Summary: New factory settings are excellent Comment: See Maximum PC, which rates this monitor over the Dell 2408. I read all the reviews, both professional magazines, web, personal, etc. All complained that the default settings, as delivered, were excessive, and the monitor was only useful after calibrating it. Obviously Samsung read the same reviews, and they now deliver with moderate settings. I checked my delivered monitor against their suggested, altered settings, and they are very close. I tweaked a few things for personal preference but that's it.
I needed a monitor for Photoshop CS3 (not gaming, not hdtv) and so I needed a true 8-bit color monitor, not one of the cheaper 6-bit TN panels. For a 24", with these specs, in this price range, your best bets are the 245T or the Dell 2408. You'll find reviewers that rate one higher than the other depending on who you read. I subscribe to Maximum PC and decided to go with their recommendation, which is the 245T. Plus they cost about the same, depending on what promotions Dell is running when it's time to buy.
I have this next to my Samsung 215tw, also an 8-bit monitor, 22", but 3 years older, and the 245T shows more detail in the shadows. It's beautiful and exactly what I expected. I highly recommend it if you work with PhotoShop at home.
I also bought an Ergotron LX computer arm for it (on Amazon $114) which is mounted to my desk and I can easily swing it wherever I need it, or spin it into portrait mode. Same with the 215tw.
Customer Rating: Summary: Annoying buzzing noise Comment: Picture quality is great. I had the opportunity to compare it with 2443 BWX and picture quality is way better.
But, there is that buzzing noise. It is very loud (my computer makes a lot of noise and my aquarium makes a lot of noise and this buzzing noise was still driving me nuts). 2443 BWX does not make any noise at all.
I do not understand why they can make a high end monitor with great picture quality but they cannot solve this stupid buzzing noise problem.
I had to return it for a refund and now I do not know which monitor I will buy. I do not want to buy a low end monitor.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hot and sharp Comment: I have been living with the Samsung 245T for 10 months. Other than the fact that the screen gives off more heat than the Samsumg 204B (1600x1200) and the likes of the Ilyama 82403WS the image has the edge of the others. I have a Sony RDR HXD 970 plugged into the HMDI and S-video. I can use this full screen or PIP whilst using the computer on the DVI socket. Although considerable more than the 245B I still feel it has proved worth while for the greater flexibility. It remains the model I would buy again.
Customer Rating: Summary: Special Monitor to the extreme, and huge bargain. Comment: I was using a Dell 24" I bought a few years back, and it was nice, but always felt a bit lackluster to me. I use a Nividia 9800 GTX graphics card, and when I read of the quality of color and contrast of this monitor, I asked around to people I know in the business. Every one raved about it. At this low price, I took a chance, and as soon as I turned it on, I knew I made the right choice.
This monitor blows the Dell 24" away. The color and detail is just off the charts.
The reviewer who complained about buzzing, must of got a bad monitor. There is no buzz, or any sound for that matter. There is also no excessive reds, greens, blues, or tie dye; not sure if thise folks just got bad units, have some agenda, or are experiencing flashbacks.
Unless you are willing to pay 3-4 times this price, there is just nothing that comes close to this monitor for color, blacks, and its 3-dimentional quality. Have lived with it now for a few months, and highly recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: A MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY Comment: I bought this Samsung 245T to replace my 243T display that failed due to a gravity error wich in turn created a sudden impact with the floor. Had that not happened, I would not have experienced the wonderfully bright, vivid colors and sharpness this newer LCD display has. I was still happy with the older 243T model, but spending the money unexpectedly was not a disappointment at all. It's 20 lbs lighter, the stand is sturdier because of the weight reduction, I now have USB ports on the monitor, and the menu system is easier to navigate through. I do a lot of digital photography, and if you've never experienced a widescreen monitor of this caliber, you don't know what you're missing. It's worth every penny, and if Samsung stays with this model line, I will, too.
