Ray-Ban re-launched the Wayfarer with a series of portraits of musicians wearing the frames, shot by seminal 70s photographer Mick Rock.

So welcome the new/old Wayfarer, the RB2140. Luxottica had to source new manufacturers to make the new original-like design. They are the exact, the same shape, same design, all the components and materials are the same .
They're wonderfully classic, and, historically, they mark the beginning of fashionable sunglasses - before that, in the 40s, sunglasses were just for aviators and racing drivers.
They're cool and that's a fact. Any rocker with an image and an edge knows it.

Comment: This is the one from the beginning, the one that spawned imitations and spin-offs. The original Wayfarer is the one that never goes out of style for men and women; and always looks good in any type of apparel. Right out of the box, the 2140 fits me without any needed adjustments. Its dimensions are ideally suited for average-sized faces whose pupil-to-pupil distance is around 2.75 to 3 inches.
The quality construction can clearly be seen and felt...from the heavy-duty hinges, to the R-B engraving on the left lens, to the material used for the black frame. There is no comparing the Ray-Ban Wayfarer to the cheaply-made third-world copies; they can't compete except for the price. Sooner or later, people will learn that you get what you pay for.
The Ray-Ban Wayfarer is a true classic in a world of wanna-be's.
