Customer Rating: Summary: Navitas Naturals Organic Raw Maca Powder Comment: I would not recommend trying to eat this by itself, but it mixes nicely with everything and is good on cereal. It reminds me of malt powder, but with add some added bitterness. It has fabulous nutrient content. I recommend it completely. There is also something to consider when purchasing all types food products - it is important for more people to support companies who are committed to socially and environmentally responsible business practices, and this company is one of them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Priced better then pills, tastes terrible Comment: Although it is cheaper to buy then the pills it tasted terrible even mixed in a shake. I haven't noticed any real change in energy but it has been cleaning my colon out, although I am not sure that is a good thing.
Customer Rating: Summary: if it tastes this bad-its gotta be good for ya! Comment: yea, so this stuff tastes like a root should. nasty. i mix it in with protein shakes, and then essentially gulp it down with a horrible scrunched look on my face. I definitely feel improved energy -which i never have of!- a welcome addition to my sometimes lacking diet.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great price for a super food Comment: Hi, I just wanted to put my two cents in regarding maca. I learned awhile back that supplements, superfoods, herbs etc. must be taken consistently in order to experience results.I began taking maca for its
nutrition and reputed adaptogenic effects (similar to ginseng). I later learned through research that it is a food and does not need to be taken in small amounts.Since I was a part time softball player after work and trying to increase my fitness, I also increased maca intake. Oatmeal, smoothies, soup, beverages. I had maca at least twice a day in 1-2 ounce portions. I also want to add I was not on caffeine at this time- I valued my sleep. It took about 2 and a half weeks to notice a marked improvement in energy and mood. This experiment 3 years ago convinced me that maca works for me and I haven't been without it for long since.
Do try this in small amounts first. The taste is not bad,but malty and a bittersweet, like dong quai. You will pay quite a bit more for small packaging and/or gelatin capsules, but it will be worth it if you can reap the benefits. Then go for the big bag and never let go of your health.
Customer Rating: Summary: the taste leaves little to be desired Comment: I got my MACA powder about 2 wks ago and I was excited since I had heard so many good things about it. However, I have to say the taste and smell has made me very nauseous. I just tried mixing it with soy milk and it was just too much for me. I only mixed about a tsp into 10oz of soymilk. I could taste it and smell it at every gulp. I don't know if these reviewers got a different batch than I have but it definitely smells HORRIBLE. Like I want to throw up every time it passes under my nose. Since I am a college student, I just can't waste the entire thing like that. So I decided to make my own capsules. I feel like I can definitely make more than 300 veggie capsules with this bag. I have no problem drinking 6 capsules to drinking this raw MACA. Plus making my own capsules will probably end up cheaper than buying the capsules from another company. Then at least you know exactly what is going in it and you can buy another powder and mix that into the capsule too. And I would buy it again for that reason.
Definitely an acquired taste.
