Customer Rating: Summary: Leapster L-Max Comment: Great and educational. It is very durable. My daughter has dropped it so many times and pulls it from the attached pencil. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. We've bought some additional educational games.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good toy Comment: We bought this for our 4-year-old daughter and she loves it. The educational value really depends on the various games (purchased separately). The only reason I didn't give this toy 5 stars is b/c it goes through batteries (4 AA) very quickly. You can purchase a recharger from Leapster, but that is as expensive as the system itself. Overall, I would absolutely buy this again and would recommend it to any parent!
Customer Rating: Summary: UPDATING MY REVIEW! Bad, now GOOD Comment: Wrote a bad review about this product because I had so many problems with the TV hook-up, it would constantly come out. Returned two units and finally just exchanged it for a regular Leapster. Contacted Leapfrog several times, no help! Finally, I contacted all the departments with the same complaint. Within a day, I had someone from Leapster customer service calling me with a sincere apology and offered to replace the plug, AND gave us a complimentary cartridge of my choice. Unfortunately, I had already returned the L-max for the original, but still received another cartridge for our new regular unit. I am thankful for Leapfrog's acknowledgement of the problem and their willingness to fix the problem. I will continue to purchase from Leapfrog. They have outstanding products!
Customer Rating: Summary: Would buy again Comment: We purchased an lmax at christmas for our 5 year old daughter.
Now I have had problems with this (BUT keep reading its a happy ending) item and it seems that eveyone has the same complaint with the tv cable not working, its not the cable thats messed up its connection on the L-Max where you plug in the cable. we called Leapfrog, Customer service was alright, it took them awhile to send us out a new cable but when that didnt work we went ahead and took it back to the store and then purchased one off amazon.com (got it in a day wow!!)
the new L-Max works fine!!It seems that the problem has been fixed as my best friend also managed to get her hands on a new L-Max and it works too!!!
I am so happy that this system is working because both my 5 year old and my 2 1/2 year old LOVE this, and i am really happy that we can now hook it up to the TV with out any problems. It stays connected even when my daughter gets up and walks around with it, which before it didnt.
It keeps both of them busy and my 5 year old can play most of the games without any help. It was a hassle to have to replace the original L-max system but all in all I would buy this again (probably a blue one for my son) because the kids love the games and it keeps their attention for awhile. Plus it has really helped my daughter with her numbers and letters, she gets a great boost in confidence when she gets the rewards for writing the letters correctly or following directions all the way (her favorite game is Pet Pals)
just a note:
The graphics werent that bad, after reading some reviews I had set myself up for disapointment, Hey its no xbox, as long as the kids are happy so am I and its not THAT bad, kinda like some of the OLD game graphics.
GOod luck with your L-Max if you can get your hands on one =)
Customer Rating: Summary: leapster l-max Comment: got one pink and one blue for Christmas this year for my 2 1/2 year old girl and 4 year old boy-- they love them- some games are more suited for this age than others- girl loves the Diego game- call them mini-games where you move shapes into missing pieces- and count penguins- my son loves the Cars racing game- however I can't quite figure out how to keep the level down to where he can answer the questions so that I won't be trapped at his side the whole time he plays- we have had no trouble with his game - her game (and she plays less) stopped working after a week or two- Amazon sent us a replacement immediately- no problem! that was awesome- easier than going to a store- I had debated between the vsmile and this- I think that I am glad I got this- but don't really have any experience with the other to compare-
