Comment: Bought this produce for 4-year old and within 2 days it was broken. Touch pads didn't work anymore. Don't think it is rugged enough for little boys or maybe just got a bad one.

I purchased this for my 4yr old daughter for Christmas this year. She received the V.Smile TV Learning System last Christmas so, this seemed like an obvious no-brainer accessory. I opened the box and found that everything was neatly packed inside and ready to go. If you already have the V.Smile TV Learning System, you'll be able to hook this up with ease. For those of you who don't own the system, it will be extremely easy to figure out. It takes four easy steps to begin playing with the Jammin' Gym Class mat.
Step 1 - Unfold the mat and lay it on the floor
Step 2 - Plug the mat into the V.Smile TV Learning System Player 1 console outlet
Step 3 - Place the game cartridge into the V.Smile TV Learning System cartridge slot
Step 4 - Turn on unit and begin to play.

11 Included Activities
1. Letter Wheelies - Using the 4,5,6 spots; you control the direction of the bike along the road and collect letters to spell out words.
2. Jump Rope Number Jam - The Counter calls out a number (ex. 7) and, as the jump rope comes around, you jump over it that many (ex. 7) of times.
3. Math Motion - As addition and subtraction questions come up on the screen, you solve the problem and jump on the corresponding number.
4. Soccer Color Kicks - Follow the color pattern and kick the right color ball into the net.
5. Two-Step Tire Tread - (This game is a bit tough) You jump on two numbers simultaneously to jump from tire to tire and win the race.
6. Health Beat - Jump to the trampolines that have food versus non-food items on them.
7. Music Box - Dance to the beat of the songs. There are ten to choose from.
8. Dancercise Sequence - Follow the directional arrows on the mat in order to develop sequencing skills.
9. Final Gym Challenge - Use everything you've learned to complete this level.
10. Gym Games - In this game mode you play four different gym activities. After you complete all of them in the Gym Challenge mode, you can compete on stage in the Final Gym Challenge.
11. Brain Games - In this game mode you are able to play four different games that will challenge your brain. Each one combines exercise with learning.
What I love:
* The educational benefits of the Mat
* My daughter is learning to balance while at play
* The multitude of different activities to choose from
* When its miserable outside...my daughter can exercise inside
* Its so much fun that even I play with it
* The mat is very touch-sensitive
* As usual, V.Smile is 100% educational
What I don't love:
The only thing I don't love has no real bearing on the toy itself. Because the V.Smile TV Learning System cartridge slot is so tight...I still have to insert the cartridge for my daughter. She is very strong yet, cannot get the cartridge in by herself. Don't be surprised when your child comes to you, in frustration, to put the cartridge in for them. The Health Beat game was my only real game complaint but, it may seem trivial to some readers. In the Health Beat game you are required to jump only on trampolines with food on them. I wondered why it was called HEALTH Beat when my daughter was choosing between non-food and Potato Chips or non-food and Cheeseburgers. Most of the choices were HEALTHY foods but, I wondered why V.Smile even put the junk food in there in the first place. This wouldn't affect my choice to buy this game. Its just an observation. Also, the box states that there are 12 Jammin' Activities when, in fact, there are eleven. The last two games are actually combination modes. Please, refer to Activities Section (above).
What my 4yr old loves:
As soon as you turn the game on, it allows you to choose one of four different characters to be while playing. She loves all but one of the games. Her two most favorite games are `Jump Rope Number Jam' and `Health Beat'. She loves that she can be the one to get the Mat plugged in and ready to play. She says that her favorite part of the mat is getting to jump up and down on it.
Final Thoughts...
The V.Smile Jammin' Gym Class is for children 4+ but a smaller child could use it, as well. I'm 35 and even I find it a fun way to exercise. This V.Smile accessory teaches Numbers & Math, Letters & Spelling, Colors & Patterns, Sequencing, Logic Skills, Exercises, and much more.

Summary: Great idea, but poorly done
Comment: We got this for our son's 4th B-Day. He enjoyed his other V.Smile games, even though he would get fustrated with the regular controller not responding sometimes. We wanted to give the pad a try. It was very difficult for the pad to know what he was stepping on. I think V.Smile could really have a awesome product if they could match their controllers to that of PS2 or XBox. We were very disappointed with this pad along with the hand contoller. The Leapfrog game system is much better, and matches the more popular gameing systems.

Comment: My 4 year old seems to like this but not as much as his other games for this unit. The touch pads are a little sluggish and it does not as the name implies give the child "gym class" work out.

Summary: Great to gets kids moving!
Comment: My daughters (6 and almost 3) love this. I love it because it keeps my kids moving and active during the winter when we tend to be holed up inside more. It's easy to use and they can play by themselves which is a huge plus for me. It's well made and we haven't had any problems with it in the month we've been using it. The games are fairly varied and allow for both kids to find something to have fun playing.
My only complaint is that the response can be slow and so sometimes the kids have to wait in between jumps to have it register.
I'm glad I bought this for my girls!
