Customer Rating: Summary: Great Tea! Comment: I can't find any tea makers for sell that brews tea the way this one does. I searched everywhere. I only found one but the reviews suck so I'm not even going to bother with it. It was also $50 more than this one. I must say that even though this is the only tea maker I could really find, it's great and I don't feel like I'm settling for less because the taste is good enough to be more than satisfied.
Customer Rating: Summary: I really like this Tea Maker. Comment: I have had the Sunbeam Tea Drop Hot Tea Maker for about 4 years. Sadly, my carafe broke this AM (my fault) and I can't find a replacement. I have really liked this tea maker and it has been so convenient because I like hot tea all day. I use it only for tea. The varied strengths worked fine for me...and I only needed to use two teabags for a carafe full. It kept the tea hot as well. And, sometimes, I just like to have a pot of hot water going all day and use a tea bag in my cup. However, I found with my tea, I like to use filtered water. The sludge coming out of our city faucets causes the tea to have a dark opaque look to it and the sludge floats on top and stains my cups. Filtered water gives me clear tasty tea. The Tea Maker has nothing to do with the problem of poor water.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sunbeam Hot Tea Maker Comment: This is a relatively inexpensive, well made, well functioning hot tea maker that has an adjustment for tea strength in the brewing process. It does, however lack one imortant and convient feature. It cannnot be pre- set to brew at a set time as most coffee makers. Nevertheless, it makes good tea, is reliable and, and inexpensively priced.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great with fine cut loose tea Comment: The Sunbeam works great with fine cut loose tea. I drink six cups a day and I like it strong - so I use it on the strongest setting, but it's never bitter like it is if you oversteep it. Coarse cut tea requires more steeping time. I use Twinings fine cut Irish Breakfast tea - 1/2 teaspoon in each side. It will work with coarse tea, but you have to use twice as much for the same effect. And it does boil the water - that's how the water makes it up the tube to the top - just like in a drip coffeemaker, but it's slightly below boiling temperature when it drips through.
The only "problem" is that it gets very dirty with the amount I drink, but it's easy to take apart to clean.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hot Tea vs. Coffee Comment: I really like this product overall. I bought it for work so that I could kick the coffee habit with lots of the fake creamer in lieu of Green Tea with Honey. A much healthier alternative. One problem I had with it was the pot design and the water tank. I always end up spilling the water in order to pour it all in the reservoir. It makes delicious tea but I haven't totally kicked the coffee yet.
