Customer Rating: Summary: This Humidifier Kicks Butt! Comment: I have had a variety of humidifiers over the past several years, and this one far out performs them all. We have a big old house with a furnace humidifier that is inefficient because we use the gas fireplace in the living room to minimize the furnace from running except at night. We run this humidifier in our dining room, but can't even hear it in the next room. Even on low, it can pump out enough moisture to actually make our first floor humid! We can also tell that it is also making an improvement on the second floor because our house plants are doing better. Even though it is early in the season, I am sure we will be pleased in the dead of winter when dry air issues are at their worst! The only bad thing I have to say about this unit is that no matter how careful I am to seat the water bottles in the base, I have to readjust at least one of them to get it to drain fully.
Customer Rating: Summary: As good as it gets....... Comment: Let's face it, arid and semi-arid dwellers...the only thing that will really solve your problem is a bolt-on furnace unit w/ H2O piped to it.
But for a small home/apartment where u don't want to spend a grip of $$$ this is pretty good. While the water tanks are clumsy they're durable and easy to fill, if not balance. The replacement filters from "thepartsbiz" were reasonable and more durable than the original issue (they have a wire reinforcement). The unit, while hardly "QUIET"care is quieter than others I've owned. It rolls about easily and is quite easy to adjust. I sleep with it on low (in an adjacent hallway) and it's no problem. It's a reasonable option for those in smaller places.
Customer Rating: Summary: Okay product Comment: My home is very dry without a humidifier. When my old one died last spring I decided to replace it with the HCM-6011i. It does a good job humidifying the air, but the tanks are rather small and need to be filled much more often than my prior one. One really annoying aspect is that the tanks dont seem to seat properly and drain all the way. When the unit indicates it is out of water I can often jostle the tanks and one will still have a lot of water left that it just did not dispense for some reason.
Customer Rating: Summary: Rather carefree Comment: So, I've been using Humidifiers for a many years now, and I finally got tired of having the cheapy humidifiers melt down (you know the ones you buy at the drug store for $30). So, I bit the bullet and got the Honeywell HCM-6011i QuietCare 11-Gallon Console Humidifier with Air Washing Technology (what a mouth full!).
For the most part, I'm very pleased with this unit (and I assume the other units will be similar).
First of all this is a rather large unit 2 to 3x larger than any other humidifier I've ever owned - so, I had to create room for it in the bed room.
Secondly, it has an 11 gallon capacity, which means I'm not filling it up every night. There are 2 reservoirs to fill - be certain to tighten the caps down or you'll be dripping water across the floor from the faucet to the unit. But, the reservoirs sometimes don't seat right - I'll run out of water in one reservoir, the unit will automatically shut off, but the other reservoir is still full of water .
Thirdly, they call it "QuietCare" which might be a little miss leading. Yes, it is quiet, if you have it on low. Turn it to medium or high, and it's just as loud as every other humidifier.
Lastly, cleaning can be a chore. Well, the taking it apart to clean it can be a chore (so many pieces and parts). On the (major!) plus side, it really doesn't get dirty. I have no calcium build-up. It's been almost a year, and I'm still using the original filter (don't tell Honeywell). Maybe it's that "Protec" cartridge?
So, in my opinion, you get what you pay for. I paid just a little over $100 at a "big-box" store, and even though it's not perfect, it's a far cry better than any of those cheapy ones.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pleased so far. Comment: I did have to tighten up the screws that hold the fan assy together to get rid of an annoying buzzing noise. Other than that I like it. I think the complaints about having to hold the tanks while filling because the top is not flat are blown out of proportion.
