Editorial Reviews:

Steven Seagal's Asian Experience Lightning Bolt Energy Drink is the first energy drink to be made of 100-percent juice, and the first to contain Tibetan Goji berries and Asian cordyceps. It is also available in Cherry Charge flavor.

The Lightning Bolt Story
When martial arts movie star Steven Seagal traveled to Asia searching for the ingredients for his Lightning Bolt drink he wanted a universal Asian character to summarize the drink's benefits. Seagal settled on the character known as "CHI" which is widely recognized as a symbol of power and energy in many Asian languages and cultures. When Seagal finished creating his drink, there was only one equivalent in nature -- the lightning bolt. Both mysterious and powerful, it is a symbol of the untold energy the earth has to offer.

Wonderful, unique ingredients
The ingredients of Steven Seagal's Lightning Bolt are what makes this energy so impressive. Each component was carefully chosen by Seagal to incorporate the greatest treasures of Asian medicine into an all natural energy boost. The Asian Experience flavor is delicious, but it is the ingredients that make this drink so special.

Goji berries
For thousands of years Tibetan Goji berries have been used in Asian medicine and were said to be the key to perfect health. Years of research have demystified this amazing fruit, and new discoveries are still being made. Goji berries are rich in vitamin C; they have a high iron content; and they contain polysaccarides which fortify the immune system. In addition, Goji berries contain high concentrations of the amino acid chain L-Leucine and 18 other amino acids, 21 trace minerals, linoleic acid, thiamine, riboflavin, betain, and B vitamins. The Goji berry may even help lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

Ginseng and Guarana
Translated, the word "ginseng" means "wonder of the world." This root is a treasure that has been used for over 5000 years to improve overall energy and vitality, particularly during times of fatigue or stress. Guarana is an incredible berry that is native to Brazil and other parts of South America. It has been used for centuries as an energy booster and research has discovered that its inherent element guaranine is chemically identical to caffeine.

Asian Cordyceps
Asian cordyceps are said to be one of the most rare and treasured herbs used in Chinese and Tibetan medicine. Seagal discovered the benefits of cordyceps while researching immune builders in Asia. Cordyceps are used to promote energy, vitality, and longevity. This rare herb will only grow in isolated regions of Asia in areas above three thousand meters. Studies show that in addition to immunity response, cordyceps can decrease blood pressure, improve bioenergy status of the liver, and promote endurance.

Ginkgo Biloba
The Chinese have been using Ginkgo for centuries to relieve asthma, lung congestion, regulate blood flow, and promote general longevity. This herb, which is derived from the Ginkgo tree, increases blood flow to the brain and blood vessels, delivering enhanced levels of oxygen and nutrients. It is often touted as a key to health and longevity. Ginkgo Biloba also acts a powerful antioxidant that can combat undesirable elements that may lead to premature aging. This herb is most popularly used as a brain function enhancer. It can greatly benefit memory and mental alertness, while helping to reduce mental fatigue and lack of energy.

Yerba Mate and Green Tea
Yerba Mate is made from the leaves of a South American tree whose rich leaves provide the flavor and natural stimulants to keep your body energized. The tea is revered for its energy giving properties and its ability to stimulate clarity of mind and thought expansion. Users often note improved memory function and enhanced train of thought. For over 5000 years people have been drinking green tea for its healing elements and its ability to give strong support to the immune system. Unlike black and oolong tea, green tea is not fermented and, thus, it keeps its powerful antioxidants. Known benefits include lowered blood pressure, boosted immune system, and lowered cholesterol.

B-Vitamins
B3, or Niacin, is needed to metabolize food and to maintain healthy skin, nerves, and gastrointestinal tract. Niacin can also be used to help lower cholesterol. B6, or Pyridoxine, is needed to breakdown carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. It is also used in red blood cell production and biochemical reactions involved in the metabolism of amino acids. B12, or Cyanocobalamin, is needed for processing carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. It is also vital for red blood cell production, maintaining nerve sheaths, and the synthesis and repair of DNA.

The Asian Experience is sweetened with an imported sugarcane juice concentrate that is all natural, but contains policosanols that can help reduce cholesterol. All of these healthy ingredients combine to produce a tasty drink that provides natural, healthy, and long lasting energy in a single 16 ounce can.

Indications and Safety Information

Comment: The drink was some what refreshing and it did take care of that nasty bruse on the side of my face.

Summary: It gets better the more you drink it
Comment: First of all, I have never tasted the cherry flavor (only the original), because I'm not a big fan of cherries. Walmart near my home was selling these drink for $1 per can so I cleaned them out.
The very first couple sips tastes like you're drinking carbonated beet juice, but after that it's actually very good.
He should really come out with a few more flavors, plus a sugar-free one.
Still, the best energy I ever had as far as taste and living up to it's hype was a drink called, Venom. For some reason, I haven't been able to find it (even online) for over 4 years now. Damn shame.

Summary: Some people love the taste some don't
Comment: I really like the taste of this, but not everyone does. I found 1 in 4 people can drink it. It tastes like a fruity prune type juice to me. As for the energy factor, it gives me a sustained blast for at least 2 hours after drinking it. Other energy drinks I have tried give you a quick jolt that only lasts a short time.

Summary: Energy Drink without the 20-minute later sugar-crash
Comment: MAKE SURE YOU DRINK IT COLD OR ELSE IT WILL TASTE 10 TIMES WORSE!

First of all, I drink a lot of energy drinks (red bull, monster, rockstar *gag*, hansen,...) and I think I like this one the best. I've finished about 3/4 a 24 pack now. With Lightning Bolt, you don't get an energy 'spike,' rather it makes you more alert and able to concentrate better. However, most people who chug 3-4 cans of regular soda a day are likely accustomed to a sugary taste and will probably be disappointed with this drink. It tastes like like a mixture between a sweet, carbonated tea and berry juice. Overall, its pretty good - I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for a healthier alternative to regular energy drinks. Also, if you like Pepsi you will probably not like this at all.

My Only concern about this drink is that it contains "cordyceps." I didn't know what they were until I looked them up on Wikipedia, and I will quote,
"Cordyceps is a genus of ascomycete fungi, the most famous of which is the vegetable caterpillar -- Cordyceps sinensis."

And vegetable caterpillars are...
"Vegetable caterpillars are the result of infection of large underground caterpillars by a fungus of the genus Cordyceps. Species of Cordyceps are found throughout Eurasia and Australia, with centres of diversity in eastern Asia."
