Summary: Soft, warm...the real deal
Comment: After years of looking at Hudson Bay blankets, but not being willing to pay the big $$$$ I had settled on using a couple of fleece blankets during winter.
Last year while staying at an Inn in New Hampshire, my wife found a thick, tan blanket in the closet. It was incredibly soft, not too heavy, but thick enough to really insulate. I left the inn, vowing to to renew my search for a good, yet affordable wool blanket.
Afte reading many reviews on Amazon (and a few other places), I thought that I would try the Faribault Mills heavy blanket.
It arrived in early December, right at the beginning of the New England heating season. To our delight, this was the exact same blanket that had been at the hotel.
The blanket is woven with a dense wool, which provides an incredible amount of insulation for it's weight. The quality of the fabric creates a soft feel against your skin - no scratchy feeling here.

Comment: Amazon is the only place I could find a wool blanket with satin binding. I also liked the fact that it was not imported. Blanket is light, but warm and I am very pleased.

Comment: It is almost impossible to find a real wool blanket in the US now; most are blends or faux wool. This is like the blankets I remember as a kid.

Comment: I LOVE wool blankets and own many of them in all weights, wools and blends (natural); this particular blanket is my favorite. It has just the right weight--it hugs you as it rests on you (ah, yes--you sleep deEper) and it's great with a cotton flat sheet under it in the cold of winter and also in the cool of air-conditioning. I've had it for about 8 years and it held up beautifully--until my Labrador puppy chewed gaping holes in it one day.
You are going to love the softness and density of this Merino Wool Faribault blanket (make sure that it's FARIBAULT WOOLEN MILLS).

Summary: Love the blanket!
Comment: I was also trying to replace an old wool blanket and couldn't find one in the stores. I use a sheet and light cotton blanket under it and our house is kept at 62 deg at night during the winter. It keeps me warm and "breaths" (unlike my down comforter) so I don't break out into a sweat when the heat goes up in the AM (auto thermostat). It's also soft and beautiful! I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find the quality of my old blanket but this is just as nice as the one made during the "good ole days".
