This compact auto accessory has a three-state filtration process that circulates and cleans polluted air. The Amaircare XR-100 Three Stage Filtration Process: Air is drawn into the top of the unit and filters through a three-stage filter cartridge. Purified air is then discharged in all directions through the screened opening around the circumference of the unit. Stage 1: Large particles, odors: Activated carbon 200% impregnated non-woven, fire retardant, polyester filter media. Stage 2: Sub-micron particles: Electret charged filter media attracts and holds sub-micron particles in the air such as dust, pollen, cigarette smoke, bacteria, vehicle emissions, etc. Stage 3: V.O.C.'s: Air exits the main filter cartridge and passes through a zeolite impregnated non-woven, polyester filter. This final air filtration stage absorbs additional gaseous contaminants. Amaircare XR-100 has a high efficiency backward-curved motor/blower for 12 volt or 120 volts use (AC-DC adapter is not included.) Filter rate is 20 cubic feet per minute or 1,200 cubic feet per hour.

Summary: A Great Unit
Comment: This auto air purifier moves quite a lot of air, and cleans it well. To test it, I had a friend hold a lit cigarette in front of the intake, and breathed the air coming out of the unit. There was no smell of smoke! After running for ten minutes in my truck I can tell that the air has a "cleaner" smell.
The filters are easy to replace by simply twisting the front intake grill about a quarter inch. The unit hangs on the back of a front seat with a strap and is out of the way. Unlike dashboard models, no screws or velcro are required to keep it from moving around, and it will not be flying around loose in a hard braking incident or in an accident.
The company that Amazon placed the order with, Safe Home Products, was a great vendor to deal with; their customer service is excellent.
I highly recommend this unit and Safe Home Products to any allergy sufferers that need air purification in their automobile!
