See what's going on under the hood As a general rule geeks like to have access to as much data and statistics as possible. We pretty much figure this applies to a geek's motor vehicle as well. So, to allow you to access extra information about your car we would like to introduce the ScanGauge 3-in-1 Auto Computer. This gadget is easy to install and provides a set of digital gauges, a comprehensive trip computer, and an engine trouble code scan tool. The digital gauges mode displays four different properties on the screen (for example, fuel economy, battery voltage, coolant temperature, and engine speed). The trip computer tracks your vehicle's maximum speed, average speed, driving time, driving distance, trip fuel economy and several other pieces of trip data. The engine trouble code scan tool lets you read standard engine trouble codes as well as clear the "check engine" light and other warning lamps. The ScanGauge is simple to use and install and mounts in, on or below the dash. It plugs into the diagnostic OBD-II connector found under the dash on 1996 and newer cars and light trucks. The functions are accessed via a simple on-screen menu interface. There is an automatic delayed power-down after engine shutoff and automatic power-up when engine is started. User and vehicle settings are automatically saved.

Customer Rating: Summary: ScanGauge II 3-in-1 Compact Multifunction Vehicle Computer Comment: This product is excellent. All the informations I wanted to monitor are at my finger tips. Based on the data seen on the ScanGauge II screen I was able to save around 15 % gas.
Congratulations for your fine product.

Customer Rating: Summary: Good product Comment: This is a great product works good very small learning curve. Nice to be able to see actual numbers instead of idiot lights (as I call them.) Just make sure you have set up the engine size and tank size.
Customer Rating: Summary: Scanguage ll Comment: Excellent product. Works as advertised. I had a little trouble with the hook up, as my car radio would not hold the time or stay on. After pulling the radio fuse and reinstalling it, all worked fine. I have it mounted on my instrument panel with the velcro tab that came with the ScanGauge. This is a very good product to help you train your driving habits for better mileage. I increase my 2002 GMC 1/2 ton pickup from a usually(mostly to and from work on uncongested freeways) 17 to 17.5 up to 19 to 19.92, the later being my best to date for a tank. I have not incountered a need for the Scan feature to troubleshoot the codes, so I cannot review that part of the item yet.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good device but poorly written manual Comment: I bought this device about 2 months ago and I am still trying to understand how to use simple functions like total trip mileage and the total amount of fuel used on a trip.... pretty basic stuff. My only complaint is the manual. The instructions leave out details that would be helpful to the user. I have complained to the manufacturer about this and they agreed that it needs to be improved and promised that a better manual is on the way to me at some future date.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Tool Comment: Well worth the money to track your fuel mileage and fuel usage history.
Especially for vehicles without fuel usage meters already built in.
Also tells other useful info but not as important as the fuel mileage and the ability to check trouble codes that may be popping up on your "Check engine light"
Read the code and do a google search for that code and you can easily diagnose what problem(s) you may be having.
If your mechanically able you can purchase the part and replace them yourself. That alone can save you what you purchased the Scanguage2.
Also to get you vehicle checked at the dealership would cost around $100 depending on dealership and what their rates are.
And after you are complete with the repair you can reset the on board computer.
