The Electric Light Orchestra were one of the biggest and most successful bands of the late 1970s, producing a massive string of hit singles and albums that almost any other band would envy. Their works have been cited as influences by such hip acts as Grandaddy and Super Furry Animals. Their frontman and leader Jeff Lynne has been the producer of choice for people like Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and George Harrison. From "Evil Woman", "Don't Bring Me Down" and "Mr Blue Sky" to "Livin' Thing" and "Hold On Tight", there are few duds amongst these 20 remastered tracks. ELO produced some of the biggest and best singles in rock & roll's history, and All Over The World: The Very Best Of ELO is an excellent reintroduction to this great band. Hopefully, this also signals the beginning of a long-overdue revival and re-evaluation. --Robert Burrow

Summary: Great compilation
Comment: I bought this for a friend because he liked "Mr Blue Sky". However after hearing the whole thing, I ended up buying it for myself as well.
I truly recommend it, all the songs are very melodic and very well produced.

Summary: lots of hits, but absolutely lifeless remaster
Comment: I have to agree with Withnail's earlier review in that this remaster is rather poor. He said it seemed "lifeless" and I wholeheartedly agree. It just sounds flat, uninvolving, dull, dead. I remember how fun and interesting these songs were when they came out. This CD, although it contains many of the popular hits, is so poorly recorded that I can't stand to listen to it. I guess I'll take it down to a used CD store and sell it and see if I can find the "Flashback" compilation that Withnail mentioned.

Comment: I loved Electric Light Orchestra when they first arrived on the market. The only flaw with this disc is the cover is much smaller than my original LP cover and the 5" CD case doesn't do justice to the cover art.

Comment: As far as I'm concerned Jeff Lynn is a musical genius and it showed in all of ELO's music and works. There's not much more I can say that hasn't already been said. This disc is a must have for music officianados of all ages.
