Editorial Reviews:

Safety 1st Potty 'N Step Stool The Potty 'N Step Stool addresses the many stages of potty training. As the child grows, the colorful potty chair adjusts to fit any standard sized toilet. The base converts into a handy step stool to help children reach the toilet or sink. The potty chair from Safety 1st converts into a 2 level step stool. It helps to extend the use of the product beyond typical training age. The potty provides comfort for the child. The seat is contoured which is great for a child sitting on the potty chair. Rubber gripper feet keeps the potty from Safety 1st secure while in use. The package of teh Potty 'N Step Stool provides parents with helpful potty training hints.

Summary: Tips easily
Comment: Bought this potty seat for my daughter to begin potty training. I liked the fact that it could be turned into a step stool and would eventually fit over an adult sized toilet. Unfortunately this potty isn't going to work for our training. My daughter is petite and trying to get her seated properly is painful as the potty tips over CONTINUOUSLY as she tries to sit. Needless to say it tips when she gets off too. The lid never stays up and always falls over onto her while she's trying to do her business. Maybe this potty will be OK for her when she's older but for now we'll be using it as a step, maybe.

Summary: Looks nice, but it's junk.
Comment: We bought it for our daughter. She hates it, and at this point would rather hide in a corner to pee than have to sit on this thing. The hole is itty bitty, and she's very uncomfortable sitting on it. It tips over very easily, and when that happens, pee and poop go everywhere. It does indeed fall apart, as other reviews have noted. And the interior of the potty is very difficult to clean, with way too many nooks and crannies that can be accidentally filled with pee and poop. As a result, it literally stinks all of the time.

The step stool is too short to help my tall three year old reach the potty when using the step stool / insert feature. She has to heft herself up and gingerly scoot back to get herself over the teeny tiny hole. Thoroughly junk.

I got it because it was cheap, plain, and seemed like it would be perfectly serviceable. No, it's just cheap and plain. Now we need to find something else, and I'm cranky about having wasted money on this piece of junk first.

Summary: Love this potty seat except...
Comment: I love this potty seat and it would be absolutely perfect if the boys flip up pee shield would stay in place. It constantly pops off and falls into the bowl.

My little guy likes the handles on the sides to hold on to and I really like that I can easily put the whole top onto the real toilet, when he's ready. I like that the base can turn into a 2 step stool as well.

This is a great potty seat ~ just wish they'd come up with another solution for the boys pee shield.

Summary: Works pretty well for us.
Comment: We have two boys, one is our 3 year old that we've been attempting to PT since his brother was born. He's finally starting to take an interest. We like the fact that we can use this potty on the floor or the regular toilet. It stays together as long as you take the time to click all the "snaps" on the back. When on the floor my son likes to take the bowl out and empty it in the commode himself and then rinse it and flush the toilet like a big boy. We recently started using it regularly on top of the adult potty so we're doing the same as daycare. The only drawback is the guard for boys. It recently fell in while the toilet was flushing and we lost it, but now my husband is teaching him to hold himself down when he goes so that we shouldn't really need it.

Summary: best potty we've ever had
Comment: Our daughter is 32 months old (two years) and I bought this potty for her to use. My mother in law bought one too, I suppose she was trying to help, but it wasn't as good as this one. I strongly prefer it over almost all the potties locally available. The reason I like it so much is that the cup is under the seat and not part of the seat. The one my mil bought has the cup as an inset into the top and when my little girl sits on it, it sticks to her bottom and well, I'm sure you can guess what happens when she has used it...

Unfortunately she stood on the lid of the potty and the seat cracked and I thought it best to get another, to keep her from getting pinched in the crack, but when I went back to the store to get another, they didn't have this version any more. The one they did have, that I got, is not as simple, now that I know I can get this potty here I will probably buy another.

The only flaw, that is not the fault of the potty, is that we have the elongated toilet bowls and most potty seats that can be set on the toilet only work with the round toilets. We currently have four potties for our daughter, two here, and one each at my mothers and his. All four are different.Fisher-Price Royal Potty is at my mothers house and I like it a lot, it too has the cup under the seat.
