Summary: Excellent CDs
Comment: If you already had some French previously, and like to brush up on speaking/listening skills, this is an excellent addition. The program uses snapshots (with common daily vocabulary) of real life interviews with French people to tune up your listening as well as speaking skills. The lessons starts with going slowly, reading the written text, and ends with the normal speed of French people speaking. Practice in your car for a couple of weeks, and you'll be amazed how much your pronunciation improves.
The accompany text is just the translation of the interviews. At this level, you should have a solid background of French vocabulary and grammar, and probably don't need a detail text on the translation, except for looking up a word here and there. We're really happy that we found this excellent tool. Have fun!

Comment: I learned of SmartFrench on some online discussion about French learning
tools. I actually just decided to learn French since it is a really useful
language recognized by UN. I saw online that many native French teachers
recommend this product. I tried the demo on the website, I think it will
work, since it makes me get familiar with the French language. I like the
method. I think it's a good way to learn French.

Comment: I have studied French off and on since high school. Years ago I studied Spanish with a system similar to this one. It seems to be the only system that really works for me--and now it works for French also! I have tried the traditional approach--answer response, etc. reading all the phrases in the "basic conversations for tourists,,,." This method teaches (1) how the language actually sounds when spoken by people other than language instructors; and (2) gives one a more acceptable accent and an instinctive understanding of what is going on. It's unnerving sometimes not to see everything printed out for verification, but my experience shows that this aural/oral method is probably the fastest way to get a real grasp of the language (at least for me!)--and of course, if you must, the translations are all there for those who wish. I'm extremely pleased to have discovered this fantastically workable system! Thanks!!

Comment: I just went over the beginners level for the french lesson and I asked to myself, " Why didn't my french instructors from France, teach me how to read the material or even pronounce the alphabet correctly?" I review some of the material in the book and french is way easier to learn with your program. Thank you for making the cds audios and software. No other programs work for me at all, Not even other "learn french online for free" websites. Thank you Thank you Thank You. You've just gained another lifetime customer.
