Customer Rating: Summary: Good price, picture not good enough Comment: Forget about this! Buy the TV with tuner built in!!!
I tried this with my new HD Monitor, Picture is not good, I returned both the TV and the Tuner and get one built in, which works much better!
Customer Rating: Summary: Dead Unit Comment: The first attempt at purchasing this receiver ended up DOA, but Amazon.com was able to get it replaced pronto. A new unit was sent out even before I mailed back the original. They also refunded my return shipping cost promptly. Now, almost 6 months later, the receiver has died. Although it should still be under warranty, I am not sure if I can locate the receipts and box in which the unit was shipped. I will need to contact the manufacturer, and possibly pony up postage and shipping.
When it was working, the picture was quite sharp. The remote was picky requiring me to point at the box just right for it to pick up the signal. The online guide did not retain all the channel info.
I'm afraid this may end up being a 6 month old, expensive paperweight.
Customer Rating: Summary: terrible video quality Comment: This unit has poor video quality an is not HDTV quality. The one plus is the signal strength meter which is more sensitive than the other model which enables you to aim your antenna properly.
Customer Rating: Summary: ATSC Receiver Comment: This Digital Stream receiver provides excellent service. The only minor drawback is that you cannot add or delete a channel-at-a-time. You can, however, update the current inventory of channels that you receive by adding new ones with the 'update' function or select a whole new set of channels using the 'rescan' function. The only way to delete channels is to 'deactivate' them which is ok because it keeps you from scanning to them but it doesn't drop them from the list.
The meter funtion is very handy in that it allows you to rotate the antenna to peak the meter instead of relying on rotor control box or the 'best picture'.
The On Screen directions are clear and easy to use.
Overall it is a great buy for the price.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works well with intuitive interface and remote. Comment: Have had this machine for a few days and must say I am very pleased with its performance. After attaching the machine to my TV (not HD) and adjusting my rooftop antenna to maximize the signal meter I was able to get all the stations I had hoped and they were all crystal clear.
BTW, a useful site is www.antennaweb.org, from which you will be able to see all the stations you can expect to receive at your location, as well as get a map showing which directions they will be coming from. Fortunately, in my case all of the stations I cared about were coming from one direction, so I was able to set my antenna once.
There is an autoscan function which automically runs the first time you connect the machine. This finds and remembers all the stations which you can receive. This station list can be easily modifed to add/remove stations as you prefer.
I found the menus particulary easy to use, and the remote is well designed, with dedicated keys for commonly needed functions.
The only downside I can think of is that changing the channels seems a little slow, 1-2 seconds, although I have not compared with other DTV tuners.
