Summary: Nero purchase was wrong
Comment: This was not the correct, full version and would not do what I wanted. The seller refunded without a problem.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Time and Money!
Comment: I bought the OEM Suite (it included an expired demo version of the wav editor). I called customer service and was told to purchase MP3pro for $20 to fix the problem. Then, after downloading and not installing properly, I was prompted to go to EXTRAS and Encoding (no encoding). Tried to reinstall, it wouldn't let me. Nero tech support charges $1.29 a minute to help you solve this problem. It's called "throwing good money after bad". STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!

Summary: Other excellent programs do exist
Comment: Well If you get the OEM version with a new burner (DVD in particular) it does not come with the DVD encoding plugin. Shell out another $24.00. I think the look is just too glitzy. There are other excellent programs that rip music CD's directly to MP3 or Ogg quicker and better. There is even DVD copier programs that will do the same things Nero does PLUS copy protected DVDs. These programs together don't cost you much if any more than NERO. I tried it cause the OEM came with my new 16x DVD burner. It's just like DVD player programs, theres dozens out there, just depends on what you like and of course you know about the inCD problem with XP service pack 2. NERO doesn't even have a complete fix for it. IF you are like me folks and burn AVI's to DVD, convert VHS to DVD and copy DVD's and especially rip music CD's, get something else, but do your research. If it comes with hardware and you have nothing else try it out. If you already have something you use and like keep it, cause remember if it's an OEM shipment it won't be a fully operational version.
This is just my 2 cents worth thats all.

Summary: Byzantine interface
Comment: After working with this product for almost 6 months I have finally given up trying to understand their cryptic geeky interface.

Here's an example of what they put you thru. What is the difference between :

- make a data disk

- make a disk copy

You tell me how to proceed here? I'm sure that the geeks that develop this type of confusing instruction set understand what they mean. But do you?

I can't say how much I hate this geeky, techo-driven interface, that leaves you in the dark as to what exactly you are trying accomplish. It's all flash & dash, but has no substantive, down to earth, copying sequence of instructions. It's almost like Nero is drunk as he is fiddling away, while your CD-ROM or DVD may or may not being doing what you instructed it to do.

Anyway, I did manage to finally copy my files from my hard drive to a DVD disk for backup. HEY, that's all I am trying to do here, as most users are! But I had to go thru a lot of interface bulls!!t to do such. And I am still not sure if Nero did indeed copy all the files that I wanted it to copy. Or leave me with a half-burned disk.

I am not Steven Spielberg. I do NOT want to copy half tracks of some video CD, mixed with interlaced scanning on the 1/8 track to adjust color balance and synch that up with the original 8 MM tape! I JUST WANT TO COPY MY FREAKING HARD DRIVE TO A DVD DISK. That's all.

For my next PC, I'm going back to Adaptec. At least that program sort of operates according to how you are used to copying files from your HD to a CD or DVD : Left window pane >> select >> click >> copy >> right window pane >> click >> burn >> done.

Less is more, especially in this case. To bad the makers of Nero don't understand that. We are not all movie directors. All we want to DO is backup our hard drives, in most cases.
