Summary: Don't buy it - fire hazard
Comment: I had this lamp about six months until it started smoking, sparking and caught fire. Not only that, but the switch to turn it on/off fell off within the first couple of months. Don't buy this lamp. It a massive fire hazard. It should actually be recalled and everyone who has purchased this lamp should be refunded.

Summary: Love this lamp, I bought two
Comment: this is a good quality lamp at a great price. I bought two when I got married and I use them both every day in different rooms. They are sturdy, the shade is glass not plastic, they are very attractive, very reasonably priced and look and feel very high quality.
They also cast a lot of light, I don't have overhead lighting in the rooms where these lamps are used.
I love them!

Summary: this is a great fixture for the price
Comment: We've owned this floor lamp for about a year now - I was shocked to see the negative review when I came onto this page today to see if it was still available. For the price, it's been fabulous - it looks good, casts an attractive, softly glowing light, is very stable, and gives the impression it cost much more. Perhaps the unsatisfied customer should return/exchange what is probably a defective unit?

Summary: Love the Lamp, Concerned about Safety
Comment: I recieved this lamp as a wedding gift, it has been in use in my home since July of this year. I love the look, and it goes great in my home. I was considering purchasing another one when I came across the frightening reviews about the lamp smoking, sparking and the switch melting. I have not had these problems with my lamp, but I am concerned to see three reviews that mention this occurrence. I called Target customer service because I was concerned about the safety of this product and they told me the manufacturer is not Adesso like the previous reviewer mentioned, but in fact a company called Legacy Lamp Company. I went to their site and contacted customer service about this issue, but have yet to receive a reply. At their web site you can purchase replacement shades for this lamp, as well as other lamps sold at Target. Legacy is also the maker of the Wood Torchiere, which also has several reviews on this website where owners have stated their lamps smoked, sparked and even melted. I'm certainly not going to buy another one of these lamps, and if the manufacturer will agree to take the thing back, I'm going to return it. I would urge all those who have had this problem to contact Legacy Lamp Company via the phone number listed on their website, as well as Target customer service.
