How do you get your team to say diamond, if you can't say baseball, ring, carats, jewel or engagement' You might say, "These are a girl's best friend. Hope is a huge one. The World Series is played here. Some are found in the rough." Get your team to say the secret word. Give suggestive sentences, funny phrases or even one word hints as clues. But don't use any of the words on the card. That's Taboo! Each time your team shouts out the secret word, you get a point. But be careful! Your opponents will be "looking over your shoulder" - making sure you don't say any of the Taboo words. If you do and they catch you, they sound the buzzer and score the point! It's unspeakable fun. Take our word for it! For 4 or more players. Game includes: 504 cards, card holder, buzzer, timer, score pad, and instructions. Requires 2 "AA" alkaline batteries (not included).

Customer Rating: Summary: Great game, other recommendations Comment: The basic idea is to get your team to say a certain word, but without saying certain strategic other words in your clues. For example, you might have to get your teammates to say "kangaroo" without using the words "pouch," "Australia," or "Captain." Be careful, you can't say any part or form of any of the words, such as "AustraliAN," and you can't make hand gestures, either.
Taboo was a classic when it first hit the party scene, right up there with Pictionary. It is a riot! And for years I would have said the best "verbal-charades" type game out there. Now I have to recommend Electronic Catchphrase as an alternative. It's a little different, with no "taboo" words, but otherwise very similar, and the advantage is that it is all contained in a little electronic disc that gives words/phrases and keeps score for you. Electronic Guesstures is another self-contained game that will elicit great fun and laughter from you and your friends. If you don't really like those little electronic gadgets, I'd say Taboo is still the way to go.
Customer Rating: Summary: Taboo Comment: We have been playing Taboo for years, great for preteen on up. We take it on family vacations. Wait till you see how much fun your friends have when they get to buzz you for saying the Taboo word!! This is kind of a "word" version of charades. Easy to learn fun for hours.
Customer Rating: Summary: THE GREATEST GAME! Comment: Taboo is the most fun! My only complaint is I wish they'd make new cards and sell them separately.
Customer Rating: Summary: Review Comment: Again, this product was a very, very old and outdated version. The cards differed from the newer version and everything. The product was in great shape, it was just very outdated. I wish there were some way to tell how old a product is so you don't think you're getting a recent version when you are not. Just a suggestion.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun at School Comment: I am a teacher and I play this game with my writing lab classes before vacations. At first they complain but then they end up having a lot of fun. It helps them think of new ways to describe words without relying on obvious descriptions. They don't realize they're learning while they play. It only really works for smaller classes (8 to 10 students)
