The Sylvania SY2612 12-inch B/W Quad Observation System with 2 Cameras provides convenience, versatility, and quality in a robust and complete system. This system allows you to view up to four camera locations in real-time simultaneously in quad mode, or sequentially in full-screen. The included two cameras have built-in PIR (passive infrared) motion sensors allowing the monitor to alert you to camera activity. With convenient features and the ability for expansion, the Sylvania SY2612 is a complete, self-contained observation system ideal in office and business applications for security surveillance. The SY2612's 12-inch black-and-white monitor can be operated via its built-in main panel or via an included remote control. Protected by a durable metal cabinet, this monitor includes four 6-pin DIN/BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) video inputs and features a still-frame option in full-screen or quad mode. Also included are four alarm inputs with one alarm output for connecting external alarm devices. Multi-voltage compatible, the SY2612's monitor runs on 100 to 220-volts of power, achieves a very high horizontal resolution of 800 TVL (TV lines) at center at up to 30 fps (frames-per-second), and has an operating temperature of 32 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
The two cameras that come with the SY2612 utilize 0.33-inch black-and-white CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensors with 3.6mm fixed lenses. Powered from the monitor via the connecting cables, these cameras achieve a horizontal resolution of 380 TVL. These units feature built-in microphones and speakers that allow for two-way audio from the monitor to a camera's location. The SY2612's cameras come with their own 65-foot connection cables, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

Designed primarily for indoor use, the Sylvania SY2612 offers you everything you need in a security surveillance system. Compatible with other Lorex digital video devices, when used with a time-lapse VCR or DVR the SY2612 allows up to four cameras to be controlled, viewed, and recorded all by a single unit. Users should note that the CCD image sensors in the cameras may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the cameras should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources. Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.
