Editorial Reviews:

The Corona Clipper compound-action anvil lopper offers three-times the cutting power of conventional loppers. The unit features a re-sharpenable, Teflon-coated high-carbon steel blade with a 2-inch cutting capacity and is designed for a fast and precise shearing action, perfect for tackling dry and woody growth. The articulating four-bar compound linkage triples its cutting power (compared to standard loppers), and both the blade and anvil are replaceable, making this tool an ideal choice for multiple-season use. Other design features include 24-inch fiberglass handles that add extra strength and leverage, while the fiberglass handles also resist weathering. The unit's handles also sport extra-long 12-inch non-slip foam grips for added comfort. The lopper comes with a manufacture's limited lifetime warranty.

Summary: Great tool
Comment: I mainly use this tool in the Wilderness to help clear trail for the FS. The fiberglass handles make it light weight to use all day. I can hang it from my saddle horn and it does not bang the horse as a metal handled set would traveling between areas. I can cut a 2 1/2" green tree or a 1 1/2 dry one. I have used mine for about 3 years without touching the blades yet.

Summary: Useful Pruning Aid
Comment: I found this cutting tool to be very well suited for pruning palm trees that have those very sharp frond stickers such as the Pygmy Date. The tool has the long handles and a wide jaw opening that are needed to make the job a more pleasant task.

Summary: Cuts soft-wood tree limbs up to 1.5" (not the claimed 2")
Comment: Corona Clipper Compound-Action Anvil Lopper #FL 3420

Of the half dozen large loppers we've used and owned over the years, this one makes cutting tree limbs/branches the easiest. This is due to the compound action's added leverage, and, its anvil cutter (versus the scissors type), which doesn't twist on the wood while cutting, like scissors loppers sometimes do. When there is serious trimming to do, this is the tool I reach for. To top it off, they aren't very expensive.

The only downside to this tool is the foam handles are too soft, so they get chewed up with normal usage.

In spite of Amazon's sales blurb, this lopper can't cut 2" wood, and I'm 6/4 270 lbs. Maximum cut is maybe 1.5" in softwood, and 1.25" in hardwood, like oak or cherry. Anything larger than that, and I use a saw.

Summary: Solid Performer
Comment: My wife & I added this lopper to the arsenal of tools we are using to clear brush on our five acres. It is well-constructed and has worked as described in the product description. I went with it over others because I have a Corona telescoping pruning saw that has also served me well. So far, I'm sold on Corona products.

Summary: Great lopper and replacements are available
Comment: This has been an excellent tool for me for many years. I have had no problems with it in all that time. A friend used mine to cut steel cable. Yes, it did, but damaged the blade.

[...]Or you can buy a brand new one from Amazon for 30 bucks and know you are getting a great deal on great equipment.
