Comment: Luis Miguel is a great singer. His ballads are beautiful. Some of the songs are too fast for me. I prefer boleros.

Comment: This is not a TRADITIONAL latin album, he only sings in Spanish, but it's the best U.S. session cats and some great material and high quality production, and besides he's an exciting vocalist and gutsy performer so I dig this CD very much and I can't speak Spanish at all. I highly recommend it to fans of West Coast AOR. It's fun, funky and romantic.
Features the top session vocalists and sessions players from Los Angeles and it won several Grammies. BUY IT!! If you love very much a U.S. R&B /MOR sound.

Summary: No. Luis Miguel is not a new name to me
Comment: I just got this cd from LM a few days ago and I must say that the cd is great. Even though this my first cd from Lm I have heard of him before and I had seen him. Not in person though. I want to get a whole bunch more of cds from Mr. Miguel and I hope their just as good as Amarte Es Un Placer. I remembered Amarte Es Un Placer was a hit in 1999 and I had jus fallen in love with the song but never got the cd. Well I have it in my collection now. Thanks

Summary: North-American commercial sound - in Spanish
Comment: What is the justification for using an orchestra of 115 players
--according to the list at the back of the book - when the main sound that comes out behind the singer - is drums and more drums.
First- there are no latin rhythms anywhere--only 7 very slow songs that use over 90 strings behind all those drums--and 5 fast pieces that use a brass section and chorus as well as LM's own rhythm section.
The quality of the arrangements leaves much to be desired. The players list notes 11 woodwinds and eight horns. All that can be heard is an occasional oboe and a distant horn. An orchestra of these proportions should be playing Wagner. In the case of this production, it would have been better to put these simple arrangements on a synthesizer and free up all those expensive resources to do something useful that would give them some satisfaction in their work.
LM can do anything he wants, and get the backing for it. Next time, the producers should think about some quality.

Comment: This is definately Luis miguels best album by far. It has songs that are classically composed "Amarte es un placer" & "Tu miradad" (no wonder it won a grammy)..The song "Quiero" & "tu solo tu" have a very classy pop feel to them. This is an album you hear when you are by the beach overlooking the ocean out of a balcony with a $300 cigar and your beautiful wife with you.Then you get into your Bently and drive off into the sunset.
