Pioneer's MJ-D508 MiniDisc Recorder puts your favorite programming onto an extremely portable minidisc format. ATRAC (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding) compression technology divides input signals into 3 ranges (high, medium and low), and processes them based on 'masking effect' to govern which parts of the original can be discarded. Digital Noise Reduction technology suppresses the hiss that occurs during replay. Pioneer takes the original Wide-Range Technology to a new dimension with the "Z-Concept" for MD players. This digital audio technology realizes extremely low distortion in digital signal transmission (Z-axis), because of the "Z-Concept" effects: jitter-free conversion, stable detection and accurate transmission. Medley Playback allows you to experience non-stop musical enjoyment with MD. This function cuts about 10 seconds of the end of each track, and each track fades at the end. Then each track switches naturally to the next, which gives the effect of a continuous medley. Pioneer's full-function SR (System Remote) control lets you operate not only that particular unit, but other Pioneer audio components and video equipment (indicated by the SR logo mark) as well.

Comment: Pioneer has a long standing reputation of putting out some high quatlity pieces of electronics over the years and the MJ-D508 is nothing less than the best of the best. Being the owner of a Pioneer receiver and a Pioneer CD-R, this Minidisc Player/Recorder fits perfectly into my setup. It has more than enough necessary inputs/outputs to perform any task required. Needless to say, I LOVE THIS ITEM!!! The sound quality it offers is simply amazing. This piece of equipment certainly lives up to the Pioneer standard as well as my expectations of Pioneer.
