Summary: Best in the Series!
Comment: Resident Evil 2
After the T-Virus outbreak at the Mansion, Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy search what used to be Raccoon City for survivors and try to escape the city. This game was a huge improvement over the original Resident Evil. This is my 3rd favorite game of all-time.

Graphics- 9/10
For it's time, these graphics are extremely crisp. All characters look really good on the N64. The only problem with the graphics is the cut-scenes are grainy due to being compressed so much to fit on the N64. They put a lot of work into making sure the rest of the game looked good though and it does.

Story- 10/10
Claire Redfield is looking for her brother Chris Redfield. Chris led the S.T.A.R.S. team into the Mansion on the original game. Claire finds herself trapped in Raccoon City with tons of zombies and other strange creatures. Leon Kennedy, a brand new S.T.A.R.S. member, also finds himself deep in the city on his first day on the job. They meet up and go to the Raccoon City Police Department to escape the zombies. Little do they know, the zombies are there as well. They split up and look for survivors and then try to escape the city together. Each character meets interesting people on their way to escaping the city and on the way learns about what happened to the city.

Sound- 7/10
It can't be perfect; it's an N64 game. Despite the sound of guns and walking being off, everything else works well. The music is creepy and fits the game good. The zombies and other T-Virus infected creatures sound very disturbing, in a good way.

Gameplay- 10/10
You play as either Leon or Claire. Both of them have interesting stories and different gameplay elements. As Leon you will use Magnums, Shotguns, and Flamethrowers as your character-only weapons. As Claire you will get Bow Guns, a Grenade Launcher, and a Shock Gun. This means you will have to survive using different weapons. If you beat the game as one character, you will earn a B-Scenario that allows you to play the game from the other characters point of view. This creates a total of 4 games all in one. Not to mention the 2 secret scenarios you can earn. This game makes you tense and freak out at moments. The N64 version allows you to change the blood color and change the violence level in the game. There is also a Randomizer mode that changes around all the items in the game to make it that much more difficult.

Difficulty- 7/10 (Note- This is how much I like the Difficulty)
This game can be really hard in some spots, but generally you are facing mindless zombies. The bosses in the game can be a really intricate challenge if you're not smart about ammo. That's another thing, keeping up with ammo on the harder modes becomes a huge challenge. You want to save ammo for a really hard enemy, but there are tons of zombies.

Overall- 10/10
This game is extremely fun and tells a great story. You can play through 6 times without it ever being the same game. Also, if you put Randomizer on, you can play through again and again just to challenge yourself. Earning the 2 secret scenarios will keep you busy enough as it is. This game gets a 10!

Summary: One of the better N64 games
Comment: This is one of the better N64 games if you have the 4meg expansion pack and it's good and creepy but some of the puzzles could have been a bit more easy to figure out but if you don't have an N64 get the GameCube remake as the Graphics are much better but still worth picking up and adding to your N64 collection :)

Summary: A must have for every N64 collection
Comment: Resident Evil 2 by itself was an outstanding entry in the survival horror genre. The T-Virus has taken over Raccoon City, and you play as either Claire Redfield or Leon Kennedy in a desperate attempt to make it out alive. The graphics, sound, and intentionally stiff controls make gameplay a tense and often nerve-wracking experience, and the intricate storyline draws you in while throwing zombies and other bizzare mutations at you. Plus, after you finish one game, you can go back and play as the other character and experience events from their perspective. Then do the whole thing in reversed order, for up to four different gameplay experiences. And thats not counting the secret missions and other bonus goodies.

Like Capcom did with Street Fighter Alpha 2 for the Super Nintendo, they did the impossible again here and crammed a 2-CD, graphics-heavy game onto a cartridge. Angel Studios did the job, and used massive data compression along with a 512-megabit cartridge to fit everything in. The result is a game pak that is physically heavier than all the other games in your collection. Whats even cooler are the new features, including a high-res graphics option and 5.1 surround. The only thing that takes a hit are the pre-rendered cutscenes, which are pixelated from compression. But its a small price considering no one expected the game to fit at all.

Great for the novelty value, great for the gameplay experience. Resident Evil 2 must be in your N64 collection.

Summary: One impressive game.
Comment: It's quite difficult, too. There's a secret at the first part of the game where you can fight the zombie of Brad Vickers at the police station. Brad is the pilot of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team, and he gets killed by the Nemesis in RE3 toward the beginning. Now he's a zombie. If you run through the whole first part of the game up until the police station without getting any items, he'll be down the stairs under the bridge leading into the station. It's harder than it might seem to get through that part of the game with no items. I died five times trying to do it, so be careful if you decide to try it. Check his corpse for a key, which you can use to open the locker in the darkroom for some new costumes (They even make the characters shoot better, somehow...). Both characters move the same speed and fight the same, but it's nice to see how they both interact and meet new characters along the way. The zombies in this game aren't all that scary looking compared to the ones in RE3, which all look like bombing victims. I can't figure out when it is that RE3 takes place because it's like the beginning of that game is before this one starts, but when you reach the police station in RE3, Marvin Branagh is dead, and in this game, he's still alive (Barely, though.). And also, in RE3, the Nemesis crashes through a window in the first floor of the police station but when you find that same window in this game, somehow it's been repaired, as if by magic. That's alright, though, just a small setback. I've been trying to find the extra mini game with Hunk & Tofu that you can somehow unlock in this game and no guide seems to tell me. I've also heard that you can somehow play as Chris at some point, although I don't see why, since he's apparently in Europe when this game takes place. Yeah, I still have a lot to discover, but it's an awesome game. The sound needed work, since it sounds like it's coming through a telephone, but oh well. At least I can understand what they're saying. It was real scary when William Birkin mutated (Trust me) and kills the guy in the prison cell. For a while I actually thought he WAS the Nemesis, because there is a SMALL resemblance. But play this game if you haven't already. It may be hard, but it's among my five favorite RE games. (There only ARE about 5)
