Editorial Reviews:

Following on from the worldwide success of "Strength Training Anatomy", with over half a million copies sold worldwide, this series has been expanded to include bodybuilding, yoga and now stretching. It is aimed at athletes, fitness and stretching enthusiasts, as well as a reference for fitness professionals. This is the only resource to focus on the anatomical detail of stretching. It provides detailed anatomical information on muscles activated during each stretch, covering all major muscle groups. Each exercise includes detailed instruction on how to stretch, when to stretch, primary and secondary muscle emphasis, and which supporting muscles are activated. It also includes stretches for performance, warm up, muscle discomfort and injury recovery.

Summary: Stretching Anatomy
Comment: Whilst this book is OK, only about half of the drawings have the anatomy drawn onto the person performing the stretch, which is really disappointing. The accompanying text for each stretch (about 70 in total) is useful. A much better bet would be The Anatomy of Stretching by Brad Walker, which includes 114 stretches, with each drawing featuring detailed anatomy of the muscles being worked. (The text in the Walker book also relates each stretch to relevant sports, which is an excellent feature to complete the picture for the reader.)

Summary: Great book!
Comment: As a massage therapist, I was looking for a thorough book on stretching that I can utilize with my clients. Information is clear and to the point. Diagrams are detailed. I especially like that it specifies most & lessor stretched muscles.

Summary: good buy
Comment: A good buy! Very good information for the muscle groups and how they work in the stretch. I like that it was broken down into muscle groups and showed all the different ways to stretch.

Summary: Not for beginners
Comment: Has a good description of the exercise, but does not give you a good guidance on how to plan an exercise routine and dangers or contraindications of the exercise.

Summary: Great book!
Comment: As a Licensed Massage Therapist knowlegable with Anatomy I really like this books simplicty showing groups of muscles related with variouse streches. Its great at the end of my sessions for review. I can give clients informed ideas for different streches and know that I am specificaly addressing the tense muscles and tight tendons that I identified threw my massage sessions. Not only does this book do a great job with muscles I have enjoyed the Kinesiology aspect (muscle actions) incorporated within it! Well done! Great buy and value!
