In a society that worships youth and relegates its seniors to second-class citizen status, many elderly women end up ignored, mourning their lost youth. It doesn't have to be that way, says Dr. Ruth Harriet Jacobs. Her solution is this unique guide to living it up in the senior years, a feisty book addressing the many issues faced by older women in a sassy, humorous, and yes, even outrageous way. Drawing from her personal experience and from years of meticulous research, Dr. Jacobs covers it all. Simultaneous with the HarperPerennial paperback.

Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointed Comment: The only thing I remember after reading this book is the author telling how you can swim for free in private club swimming pools and then remarking that this was probably not legal and, if you wanted to attempt this, you should know the name of a lawyer just in case.
That is not the kind of "outrageous older woman" I want to turn into. This was a waste of my time and the book will soon end up in my stack of papers for recycling.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not that outrageous Comment: I was expecting a more OUTRAGEOUS book. Lots of good sense advice though especially for those who have been so busy in the workplace that they havent had time to figure out what to do with themselves once they age/retire. Good alternatives to staying home and vegetating. Positive theme, might be just what an older women needs to start her new life
Customer Rating: Summary: Saving the day! Comment: I bought three books (this is one of them) from amazon to give as gifts. I was worried they would not be on time for a golden wedding anniversary and 50th birthday of a close relative.
Firstly, the books where in mint condition with superb contents and apropos for the occasion (good guidance from brief descriptions by amazon) and best of all delivery was precise. Provided tracking was accurate with a couple of days to spare.
Amazon is still excellent in all aspect as I keep dealing with it! KUDOS!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: SHE'S INSPIRATIONAL Comment: Ruth Jacobs has written a timeless book --- I think it will continue to be relevant to women for many years to come. In fact, it was so relevant to me personally that I quoted her a number of times in my own book. You won't be disappointed --- she writes well on a variety of topics. Pamela D. Blair, Author The Next Fifty Years: A Guide for Women at Mid-Life And Beyond
Customer Rating: Summary: an outrageously good book Comment: Thanks to Ruth Jacobs for this liberating book. Far too many people give up the fight when they hit certain age milestones. But why become "old" simply because you no longer succumb to the siren song of corporate marketers. Which is one of the main reasons older people are considered irrelevant--you're not as easily manipulated by advertising pitches as you were when you were younger. So, let this book be your companion as you fight the good fight against stereotypes.
